old free-standing files vs. pendaflex

Hi!

My question is quite simple:
what are "old free-standing files" exactly? which is the difference w/ pendaflex?
I live in Europe and i can not figure out what does it mind?
David talks a lot about that in his book but there aren´t any pictures.
can you show me?

Manilla Folders

I think he means regular 'old' manila folders, coming in 1/3 cut and 1/5 cut. Before the days of Pendaflex, the file cabinets had a movable adjuster from the back that kept all the files upright.

I am using the 'one manila folder per Pendaflex' system, and so far it is working out well.
