Do you keep "reference" lists separate from next action lists?

Just wondering if many of you keep your reference lists like "movies to watch" in a separate place from your next action lists.
 
For me, “Movies to Watch” would be a Someday/Maybe list, because it’s a list of possible future actions. Reference would ideally be lists with potentially useful information. But there are some twists, at least for me. First, I’m mostly a casual movie-watcher, so I have transitioned to tracking movies via lists maintained by streaming services. For most people, at least some lists are better handled by specialized systems. Second, I prefer to keep some pure reference lists in the same Area as my projects, both active and someday/maybe. However, the list app I use doesn’t have a separate reference category, so I implement reference lists as future projects with a start date of 1/1/2050. It’s a hack, but it works well enough. Sometimes you have to adapt your conceptual categories for the tools you use, instead of the other way around.
 
My "Movies to Watch" or "Books To Read" are kept with my Somday/Maybe lists. When I'm looking for a book to read I can consult that list.

I have a list of "Movies I've Watched" in reference.
 
I have a Master list note with links to each List note. I keep that note pinned in apple notes with Projects, Next Actions, Someday maybe, and Agendas. I keep each list in the Reference folder.

Definitely not in with my next action lists.

I use Listy for media I want to read/watch/play. I wrote my own app for checklists like things to take on holiday or what to pack for the gym. At work I mainly use OneNote for SOP type lists, like how to do the banking or how to approve payroll.

That's surprising. It looks like you have to look in three places for lists. And you seem to have a separate system at work than you do for personal. How does that all work?
 
Yes, for me my next actions list is commitments, not fun might want to do items. I have a separate list for TV shows and movies I might want to watch. I do keep other reference lists separate in OneNote.

Is @Errands a 'place' ?

If one's @Home is conventional, are being on a Plane or Train a 'place' . . . as such would

@Watch [Eyes-&-Ears] for perhaps a Movie
@Listen [Ears]
@Read [Eyes]

Be worthy of that precious 'place' and time?

Sure. I wanted it to be simple. So I don't have @walmart, @Lowes etc. I may put the most likely place on my errand, but If I am out I look at my errands list and I can do the thing I want to. So it is many places but it is a place. I am just never at a place that would trigger @read. Plus I like to narrow down my reading or watching to one item. I don't want to be reminded of all the Books from my list I haven't read yet. :)

As a general rule, I prefer to have multiple tools that each do their job really well, rather than a single tool that does it less well. What nominal extra overhead there is in having more places to remember is outweighed by the benefits each specialised tool brings.

The OneNote thing is slightly different, since that's a collaborative workbook we use at work. I would probably use a different tool if it were entirely down to me.
