About the topic of ‘zen to done GTD - summary videos

‘After I had a series of videos from example user pollifax @Mrs-Polifax shared recommended to myself with things such as productivity game summary of GTD system, book by david allen, also his summary video YT of “checklist manifesto”, also video by successful by design YT - summary of GTD.

Then also user focus guy @FocusGuy - sharing bullet journal videos.*1

All about implementing the GTD system properly - which requires planning and maybe has certain changes with persons, symptoms like myself of ADHD.

I was attracted when I searched [zen to done summary of system - Search (bing.com)]

““It’s about the habits and the doing, not the system or the tools.” In order to capture the essentials of being productive & organized, while keeping things as simple as possible, I’ve developed my own productivity system: Zen To Done (ZTD).”

Saying how it mainly differs from GTD - is its less focusing on planning forward

You see there are a bunch of example YT videos about zen to done

Zen to Done | The Minimalist Productivity System (Simple!) (youtube.com)
Is first video which comes up, I left a comment ‘Why not transcribe from 2mins
The second habit is process, for most part applies on email
What want to do - is 2mins less process how
Third item is plan, start of week - try focus each tasks week
Fourth habit do, ideally select one task by day
Fifth habit related trusted system
Sixth habit organise
Whether folders, want put things were
Review
8th habit is simplify
Ninth habit routine
Find passion

Are there any more threads about zen to done? on this fourm?

A searched and see Zen to Done approach | Getting Things Done® Forums - there only small amount written on this forum about zen to done , not anything seems up to date present moment 2024

Action pointers
So maybe I should - after making this post - put it on my someday list to - read the book zen to done if see this thread gets a response by users (and try to incorporate it)

P.S.
1A voice in my head says - I feel I need to stop watching GTD summary videos on YouTube literally "

*1 -2 zen to done seems have more similarities with a paper based system like @FocusGuy was trying posting about"

I believe that the reason for not being a lot of discussions about ZTD here, is that this is in fact a GTD forum, not a ZTD forum...
Actually, ZTD looks a lot like GTD, with some slight differences. The originator of ZTD acknowledged that he was heavily influenced by GTD. He went on to adopt and write about some other ways to conduct your life. The same could be said about a lot of people who write about productivity. The questions we all face are really not about who to follow, but where our own steps are taking us.

Thank you very much sir

For better-or-worse . . . what you read from this end is expressed as appropriately and respectfully as possible without 'baloney' talk . . . life is too short for 'baloney' talk ?

Thanks for the kind words about my writing, TimBourne. I read a lot as a child, and my job as a college professor involves a lot of writing.

I literally - was using the type of E-book version of ‘zen to done’
*Please see two images attached*

Where there is part of the book , chapters specifically writing about the complete minimalist version of ZTD the author titles or labels as “minimal ZTD”

He explains minimal ZTD is comprised of the first 4 habits (of the full habit list of the complete ZTD system-which recommends about 10).

I took paper notes writing, of the pointers which the author shares in chapters “minimal ZTD” “Habit 1 collect” , habit 2 process, habit 3 plan and the fourth : Do

In these parts of the book actually the author - had type added cited information (or references ), recommendations for type tools to use *1

And also type literal hyperlinks to his blog zen habits.

For example - he linked a part of the book saying ‘what to do about having a problem of lack of motivation to implement steps of book’ - he linked article “motivation hacks” to his blog website.

And I had idea - I could chronologically go though the cited or referring articles (in the book first [while reading at the same time] and upload my notes/ analyzations to this forum - as a way of myself trying to consolidate learning Zen to done.

I could - just make one separate thread - uploading my notes of all his articles once finished reading fully “ *

‘I - would think users would agree that I don’t need to take pictures of the paper note book I used? Or yes?

Well herein, Main difference of “minimal ZTD” - is that it says to not do any weekly review at all , entirely focused on simple lists.

Chapter 1 habit: collect - says the author Leo Babuta gives his personal preference recommending best a “small note book” for mental capturing, ideally a hipster PDA, then also says - use a “mole skin” for the next higher level of list [only ]

**He did also say with example of using digital “use the simplest type note taking software or app”, but think - says his preference best is non digital? Saying portability is key, e.g. he doesn’t like type ‘note books’ or large digital note taking devices

Then chapter 2 ‘process ‘ basically gives his type styled instructions for processing methodology ‘ which I must say believe - is very similar to GTD, reminds me of workflow diagram I have used in past- but at the same time its unique, has authors style to it, so Vsays - its actually worth that I paste/laminate the method out lined in the book*

Then the chapter 3 habit plan - explaining the type planning, how the plan concepts of ZTD work without a weekly review by simplifying into ‘big rocks’ for each week and ‘ MITs’ for each day, which reminds me what user wilson @Wilson Ng shared.

Then chapter 4: do.

Gives advise for types of techniques literally for doing tasks, such as zoning, using times, chunking activities, or ‘rewarding techniques’ to name some of them about half of them …

– User focus guy @FocusGuy - in past shared about note book or moleskin saying he himself uses a certain amount of ZTD, he shared the type of link to Youtube videos Joe about note books - where hes advertising his brand - but maybe I could find a different version for myself?

P.S.

Author says actually

Minimal ZTD - just requires 2 tools of notebook and pen

As you see GTD fit. . . .

@TimBourne

Thank you very much sir

As you see GTD fit. . . .

I should be grateful you give myself feed back here

But basically - problem above - is I write posts - and use certain changes in format (to represents tasks - have ideas to work on right)
'and im not sure what's the best example way to proceed or prioritize ?

erm V says for example - I'm unsure from my memory did I actually write in previous post the words - that I will or need to make a new separate thread (based on this sub post here which were the only person back to comment on?)

And write(right) now I continually feel mentally muddled like the author here Leo B (says he also felt in the begging while trying to implement productivity systems

Where I still feel like I have a big long lists, banks of lists T D A A , such as my asana workplaces software's (the software asana) which started off with @René Lie literally

- point words come to mind - part of myself feels - I have bad comprehension from clicking the links in the book and just scanning over them (not able 100% take everything) v says , there is one solution to this

erm example V says - well I cannot fail in the end - if overall: I try to switch my entire focus to studying/following Leo B

STN?

Why not give it a try and see how it works for you? After all, it's not a one-way ticket, you could always revert to GTD!

@René Lie

Well said

Meanwhile, perhaps in some 'applications'/uses paper seems to be a superior medium while also facilitating a more healthy objective detachment as digital can seeming have an excessive unhealthy unproductive allure/attachment . . . according to Meta's Facebook and its seemingly detrimentally unaware users ?

Thank you very much
