Any Ecco Pro Users Out There?

Just wondering if there are any people in this group using Ecco Pro? I would like to find out how you are using the GTD model within Ecco Pro. In addition, I would like to build a few templates for the legal or real estate professionals that would like to follow the GTD principles, but haven't quite found the right electronic model that mimics their workflow.

Ecco Pro's strongsuit is that it can be used as a toolkit to model just about anyone's workflow. Let's get started. :D
 
Sure. Lot’s of us use Ecco. I don’t use it for GTD, but some do. I’ve seen templates talked about. Check out the Eccopro forum at Yahoo groups.

Guest, I am familiar with the Ecco Pro forum, as I have written a template specifically for GTD that is posted to the Ecco Pro Files section. This group is focused on GTD and it is my desire to enhance the template that I have created with Ecco Pro AND to create one or two templates that would be modeled after an attorney or real estate professional's workflow.
 
I have used Ecco since Lotus Agenda support ended. Both products, although the best in their genre from my perspective, lacked features found in the other that would have made them the perfect PIM (Agenda lacked Ecco's outlining capability, for example).

At this point I am actually comparing my template to the one you released (1.6). They are similar in terms of workflow (not surprising considering the GTD underpinnings). One difference is that, in my application I populate a folder called ** NEXT ACTIONS ** with sub-folders wich represent the various contexts and agendas which each Next Action is placed: @office, @errands, @phone, @Bob, @Stephanie, etc. Whereas your template populates the Next Actions folder with "Defer_It," "Delegated," "Reference," and "Get to It"

Thank you for posting your template, BTW, there are some excellent concepts in it which I'll be incorporating into mine.

I've just started using Ecco and building a GTD-based workflow. I used wussery's template as an example, but I did build my own from scratch as I wanted to have a open mind doing it. However, the result is very close to the template from wussery. I too was thinking about using a next-action notepad with folders for the different contexts, but I have a Treo that I needed to sync to. So to use the todo categories of the Palm system I ended up using those categories in Ecco for the contexts. I couldn't figure a way to have next-actions linked to both a folder AND a category in one simple option so I let go of the 'folders for contexts' idea because I think that anything complicating the data-entry will keep me from actually using the system.

I think this is the beauty of Ecco Pro. There is no 'RIGHT' way to do things. Ecco Pro allows one to build a template around an individual's specific workflow. This is the elegance of the program. My template was an exercise to design my workflow around the GTD principles. I'm still tweaking things and will shortly release a 1.7 version. Stay tuned and thanks for the feedback.
 
I'm looking forward to your next version. Will most certainly look to see what other things you did with it. I'm still working on my own implementation, I have several idea's I'm looking to implement (like having a 'concepts' notepad besides the projects notepad, to keep things uncluttered).
