Any suggested pre-reading for Leveraging Focus Vision?

Hoping to "hit the ground running" at the Leveraging Focus & Vision seminar in Burlington, VT on August 5th. Can anyone suggest some worthwhile things to read in advance?

So far, I've started Part II of David's Ready for Anything book, since focus is the topic for that section.

Any more ideas from those who've attended this seminar?

Thanks,
Tom

Don't hit the ground running; just be present and ready

Tom, I have had the privilege of attending this seminar many times. Each time, I walked away inspired and with new information and plans to implement.

I'll offer my $.02 in response to your question. The best thing that I would recommend that you do as you prepare to attend David's "Leveraging Focus & Vision" seminar, would be to work towards processing your stuff so that you can attend with an open mind, assured that you know what is not getting done, so that you can be completely present. You will learn more if you are not distracted by what you are not doing.

The last time I attended the seminar, both of my daughters, (age 10) attended as David's guests. They did not prepare for the event, yet they too, walked away inspired to action on the things that were important to them. They were easily able to be present and to focus on the material that David shared. Perhaps there is a lesson there for all of us.

The seminar will inspire you to think about the bigger picture of your life and the things that are important to you. It has for me, and for my children. They still have their affirmations on the wall of their bedroom.

Best regards, I know that you will enjoy and benefit from the seminar!

Eric

PS. Thanks to something David said at the seminar, I now rarely have to ask them to brush their teeth!

I think DA should release a book called "Leveraging Focus & Vision".
I'd buy that for certain.

I have not attended this seminar, but for me anyway, getting higher altitude ideas usually comes out of breaking out of my routine, either deliberately, or by accident.

I am thinking of taking a Vision day soon, and just going for a drive by myself without a map or plan into deep rural areas i have never been to before.
Or i might just get on a plane and go to NYC by myself for the day, or something like that.

That seems to work for me to shake things up in the Vision dept.

I got this idea years ago from this crusty old multimiliionaire.
I was trying to come up with new ideas for doing a deal with him, and i was a young man, so he told me to go out and do things i would NEVER normally do, like go to a heavy metal bar, or just do something i had never done before.

Hmm, i just got the idea to fly out and do this seminar for my Vision day....not a bad idea....

Leveraging Focus and Vision- pre-reading?

I had a very pleasant chat with Kathryn (who I did not realize was David's wife until the end of the call) several months back about the LFV seminar and signed up for it after that. Unfortunately I've just had to cancel my attendance to the Aug. 5 workshop due to a family illness. Kathryn mentioned that David has drawn widely from a variety of influences/books; the only one I recall is "Psychocybernetics".

Until I can get to the next LFV, can anyone (David?. Jason?, anyone?) suggest important influences?

Also, if you've attended the LFV workshop, what were the 2-3 most profound/helpful/enlightening things you came away with?

(In asking this, in no way do I wish to steal any of David's thunder or get a "free web seminar" in this forum- after experiencing the huge difference David's GTD ideas have made in my life I'm simply very interested in the next step...)

I was just on the Nightingale-Conant (publishers of the GTD Fast CDs) web site (www.nightingale.com) and happen to see a 6 CD series called:
The New Psycho-Cybernetics
Tap into the Power of the New Psycho-Cybernetics
by Dr. Maxwell Maltz and Dan Kennedy
http://www.nightingale.com/tProducts_ProductDetail.asp?ProductIDN=18470&PD=L&WCU=14A677EEA99FFCD0E4

I haven't purchased it, but as Chris has already mentioned, this may be where David derived some of his content. There is also a book available from Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0671700758/002-6497762-7598438?v=glance

Is anyone else familiar with this? Can you comment on either of them?

I am coincidentally listening to the New Psycho Cybernetics for the 3rd time. You can download the Unabridged (11+ hours) version from audible.com

I noticed that after my post last night. I downloaded it and burned it to CD this morning to listen to during my commute. So far it sounds pretty good.

Cybernetics

I too have purchased Maxwell Maltz book on Psycho - Cybernetics. It is extremely interesting and matches GTD especially in the importance of outcome visioning and whay it works. It also provides step by step instructions on mental picturing of outcomes - visualisation.
