AIM chat about GTD, Thursdays at 10 pm NYC time

and another session for Europeans and whoever else at 10 pm London time

for all you Americans and Canadians (and Aussies and whoever else is awake at this hour) the chat on AIM in room "GTD" is tonight at 10 pm EST. Don't forget! This is a test run and I just want to see how many people will show up.

well, basically

I am in there all the time evenings EST. Anyone can join. But the main chat is still Thursdays at 10pm EST :)

v. curious

Hello there, how did the chat go? I'm curious to see/hear what showed up, how it went, any "wins?"

AIM Use

I loaded AIM on Windows XP last night when I got home. I could not find how to go to a specific public room, ie the GTD room usedlast night. I had to create an AIM id as I am not a AOL user. I could also invite someone to chat or send IM> I did find how to go to the "Hot" rooms listed. Does any one know what I was doing wrong or at least how can I open/goto public rooms in AIM

less than stellar turnout so far, but I have only advertised since yesterday. just a couple of people. We talked a bit. I am expecting this to grow.

jhundley, update your profile with your AIM nick and I will invite you. Hopefully it will be easier that way :)

Chat time 10pm EST or EDT ?

I assume that you meant 10pm EDT. But for an obsessive group like this, perhaps we should make it clear.

Warum

Um....I don't get it. I thought GTD was about focused productivity, smart use of your time, and upping the substance quotient in your life. Chat seems antithetical to those objectives. Apart from the appeal (?) of the ersatz socializing experience, why should GTDers find this a worthy diversion?

Talking about GTD and connecting with other people -- who are all striving to achieve at least one goal similar to yours -- is not "upping the substance quotient in your life"? Huh. Can't agree with you there.

Wish I could have joined y'all, but I misread 10 p.m. for 10 a.m. I'll try to stop by, but Mac's iChat doesn't appear to support rooms.

Just to clear the air, Brent was able to connect using iChat and we talked for a bit. It is real simple -- in iChat press together the Apple key and the letter "g" and type "GTD" in the dialog window that appears. You should be in the room within a couple of seconds.

Joining via a different AIM messenger is a different keyboard shortcut -- each specific to your OS and AIM version (just look through the menus)

Is this an AIM specific thing? Or is there a way to get to this 'room' via a regular IRC client?
