Collecting in the car?

Hi,

I get a lot of calls and ideas when in the car but need a good form of capturing them. My ideal would be something like an iPhone app that I can press one button to record what I want, and then press again to stop recording which will then transcribe the message into text and email it to me.

Does such an app exist or can anyone give me any other best practice or useful suggestions on how I can capture things whilst driving?

I live in the UK, so Jott and Google Voice are not options I believe?

Thanks in advance,
Ross.

In android theres plenty of ways to do it with a combination of Tasker, the voice activation and the voice-to-text. I dunno about the apple phone as I dont have one.

If its a really big deal you could try Dial2Do or something like that. I haven't tried it and it costs £40 a year so im not going to, but if you do a lot of travelling you might find it good.

Ross,

On your iphone you have the ability to voice record and make memos of any ideas or reminders that you may need to do like buy sports tickets for the kids or pick up dry cleaning or on the opposite end make a cool new pen etc... If you can type while driving you have the notepad and calender functions so a new iphone app wouldnt really be logical in my opinion.

I suggest you wear a simple voice recorder around your neck on a lanyard to capture thoughts. The recorder must have a one-touch record button; you don't want to take your eyes off the road. It works great for me.

Collecting in the car...

I use the Dragon voice recognition app on my iPhone. I can dictate a thought with the push of one button. The program does an impressive job of recognizing my voice. There's an easy way to send the message to my email account.

I can dictate the message without taking my eyes off the road....but never transmit until I'm safely at a stop.

And if you are driving near me...I'd prefer you did too!!;)
