Dealing with Horizon of Focus + Career Vision Outcome

Career vision get a promotion, didn't happen. So not promoted at work. Should i leave for another company ? Can't cause the higher priority is stay close to family (and not move far far away). So the deal with this i say to myself:

Its ok because i'm still with my family.
Turn to religion... have faith in better things to come ahead.
envision another positive outcome of my career.
Always review my Horizon of Focus and say, the family is more important then my career..
Define next actions on career vision that don't involve a promotion...

So just wondering how other people deal with this situation...

Interesting that you haven't asked the most important question that I would have asked in your situation:

Start your own business and then you could be as close to your family as you want, maybe even too close . Of course you would probably have to go right back to the widget-cranking level to begin with.

On the other hand you could avoid all the tax recording, legal implications, money worries, personnel issues, feeling you need to be "at work" all the time and stay in your current employment and, as TesTeq says, try something different.

By the way, I would change the "can't" in your post to "won't". I find it useful to realise when even the bad things are as a result of my decisions. As you point out you have chosen the closeness to your family over your career, on this occasion.
