What you do with your apointements completed in your calendar?
You delete them or you let them there for register?

Thanks,
Ricardo

I update my calendar during the day with what I actually worked on and all appointments vs what I was going to do. I keep them forever, or nearly so.

I finally cleared out of my Palm Treo all calendar items from 1997 and earlier but I still keep a hard copy version of all of that. I am also now in the process of scanning my older pre-computer calendar ones and saving the current ones as paper, in my mac, on my Treo and as a PDF file in archive storage.

I keep the data because I find my self searching past years calendars a lot, I just had an instance where I had to search for the past 10 years dates for a particular item. I was able to do it easily in my system.

A few years ago I stupidly uncluttered about 15 years of old paper calendars from the late 1970's and 1980's. I've been trying to re-create the critical items from them ever since. I didn't think I used them that much, but it turns out I really did. Memory is not particularly accurate either, esp when it comes to actual real dates.

Keep'em

I never delete my appointments or "hard landscape" tasks. By keeping them around as historical reference, I'm able to examine the patterns and trends that result of what I choose to do with my time. It helps me learn from my past.

What about day-specific actions and reminders?

I don't think it's necessary to keep those permanently.

On my Outlook calendar (synched to a Palm) I physically delete "all-day events" that represent completed day-specific actions. I also physically delete day-specific information that has no longevity beyond the calendar date on which it was entered (flight reservations, etc).

I recently started assigning context categories to day-specific actions; it helps me to differentiate day-specific actions from day-specific information and it narrows down day-specific actions that I can do in a given context. On the Palm, I assign a green color code to action categories which makes them stand out visually. I can also apply category filters to the views.

Does anyone do something different?

I keep them

for what it's worth, I keep them. I may need to look back, for whatever reason, to see what I've done on a particular day. I would not want that information lost.

Some people do delete them for space reasons on their desktop or handheld, but that's the only reason I could see to get rid of that kind of useful history.

Keep them. How else do you know how long it is since you had the drains cleaned out by the plumber or whether it is one or two years since you had the aircondioner serviced?

What mark.thomsen said plus there is a wierd way in which those pattern tend to improve, if they "know" they are being watched.:D

Michael

I usually set up recurring appointments for that sort of thing, otherwise I move the appointment to a future date on my calendar once it's done. I don't look to the past for reminders about my future; I'd never find everything I need.

I am kind of a data freak(!) so I like to keep everything as much as possible. And with everything that has happened with desktop search abilities, it is so easy to find everything, no matter how far back it is!

xof

I am inconsistent however when I used Outlook & my GTD Coordinator I often place an x in front of certain appointments or events that occur today which were completed

xOrder Supplies from Staples -means I did it.
