Does anyone use GMAIL for GTD?

I'm not using it for anything except email, but one reference I give out is this step-by-step guide by one of the davidco people - it's quite good:

GTD and Google options
Thanks for the link Matt. Yes, the whitepaper describes how to "re-purpose" Gmail to be used as a list manager for GTD. Quite interesting approach if you want to go that route. Google also has some other tools that can work well for GTD lists, including Google Spreadsheet, Google Documents & Google Notebook. All free and pretty easy to setup. If you know the structure of lists you want to create, really anything can work as long as you work it.
Not an endorsement for Google per se...just offering up some suggestions for those of you who like good web-based solutions!

I'm using a Google implementation of sorts. Actually, I work from paper, but the paper is printed out from Google. My only calendar is on Gcal. Personal email is on Gmail. I don't try to keep all my work stuff on Google because I have more appropriate ways to handle those things at work.
Gmail is also currently holding the master copy of my lists. They are the body of emails that I have stored as drafts. These are action lists, project list, Someday/maybe list and a contacts list. All of these things could also be set up as Google Documents just as well.
I like to work from paper, but I also like a digital backup and I like to be able to edit on the computer and print out a fresh copy without re-writing everything by hand. It's nice to have it all accessible from any computer and backed up.
I like Google. The price is certainly right.

gmail and GTDInbox work great !
I have been using gmail (and a Moleskine) for GTD for some time and I am very happy with it. Combined with the rest of the Google suite (calendar, documents...), I found it to be a quite good GTD platform for me. Always available. No backups needed. Accessible from my desktop, my laptop, my mobile phone browser and any other browser capable machine anywhere without any complex data synchronization issues, etc... In summary a system that I trust.
I installed the GTDInbox Firefox extension last week and it works perfectly. GTDInbox basically add dynamically a set of filters and views for GTD on your gmail account browser window. It is just a slightly more practical way of using gmail tags smartly to do GTD but it's worth it. And of course, if you access your gmail/GTD account from another browser (at an Internet cafe for instance) that does not have the extension installed, you can still do your GTD stuff using tags in the gmail standard user interface, as I used to do.

I highly recommend this extension to any GTD'er trying to use gmail.

I just switched from Y!Mail to Gmail. YES, BIG DIFFERENCE!! Far, far less spam. And I'm able to do it while keeping my Y!Mail email address.
Anyway, having done this makes me wonder if I should go with Gmail for more than just reading email. I've been GTD for about 4 years, and I've always downloaded all my email to Outlook 2000, then sync'd to a Palm PDA. I can see the possibility of using Gmail, esp. GTDInbox, as a ubiquitous, no-sync source for email, Tasks, and with Google Calendar, my calendar as well.
The thing I have trouble imagining is using the web-based system on my Treo. It just can't be as fast as using the native Treo data and apps, which are sync'd with Outlook.
Anyway... I know this is an old thread, but has anyone out there tried making a similar switch? That is, from Treo / Outlook to Gmail?

It worked fairly well for me, but I now use Toodledo, a pure web app. I may switch once native apps for the iPhone become available mid-July.
When you have a Gmail-Account you have access to all the Google web apps within this account. Just use them if you like. The interfaces are well designed, so the stuff is uable. The question is this: do you want your system to be on the web?

I like the web for it ubiquity.
However, I greatly value the split-second speed you don't even think about when you flip through tasks, events, and contacts on the Treo.
If there was a web app for syncing the Treo... that would be great!
