Firefox bookmarks in Outlook's favorites list?

I inherited this pc from my daughter when I bought her a loptop.

I deleted all her favorites/bookmarks from the favorites folder.

Now would like to have my firefox bookmarks come up in the Outlook favorites list, but can't figure out where the favorites are. If I knew, maybe I could use TweakXP to change the Favorites. I wouldn't want to just export/import because I want to be sure they are the same folder, so what comes up in the Outlook favorites lists is always the same as the Firefox browser bookmarks--I want both programs to point to the same address.

Good afternoon...

FireFox's book marks are stored differently than Internet Explorers.

IE's are short-cuts in a directory
%homepath%Favorites (try entering this in Start -> Run)

Fx's are in a file:
%appdata%MozillaFirefoxProfilessomething.defaultbookmarks.html (you can't enter this in Start -> Run since the something is different for everyone, but try %appdata%MozillaFirefoxProfiles and you should find a directory that ends with .default, enter that directory and double-click the bookmarks.html file).

I don't think you can do what you want (have Fx's bookmarks appear in Outlook's favourites) - Bill Gates doesn't want you to do, and what Bill Gates wants Microsoft does (afterall, he owns it) and you have to live with (or spend the effort to find alternatives).

Google for [firefox explorer favorites]. There seems to be lots of information on importing from one to the other. I believe that the Outlook favorites is the same as the explorer favorites so I would expect that you will get more hits by searching for explorer instead of outlook...

These ideas have gotten me further along, but I'm beginning to suspect that it's just not going to work out--should have known. But I did learn something new along the way.

In Internet Explorer, at least in the version I use (6.0), under File there is an option for Import/Export. One of the things that can be done there is import a bookmarks file, and it can be from any .html file. Firefox actually saves its bookmarks as an .html file. So can't you simply go to IE, import that file, and then those are the bookmarks? And once they're in IE, they should show up under the Favorites in Outlook.

Found two Firefox extensions that function in different manners:

http://syncmarks.mozdev.org/ - Syncs FF bookmarks with IE fav folder

http://www.iosart.com/firefox/plainoldfavorites/ - Allows FF to use IE fav folder as bookmarks. In essence, you maintain one place for web favorites.

That is absolutely wrong and false. Any application can access and write to the internet explorer favourites ressources. K-meleon (which usedgecko) and maxthon (which can switch to gecko rendering if needed) do that. This is the advantage of tight integration with the os. For instance, rss feeds i read in my reader can lead me to a page on the internet and that page can be bookmarked via the rss reader interface and be available when using ie. Something that can't be done with firefox since it doesn't share its ressources.

Firefox dev did choose not to use this ressource. This is a mozilla decision, not an evil ms one. (Furthermore no application could easily write to firefox's bookmarks file)

Don't forget that:

a) Firefox is based on the old netscape which was using bookmarks.html long before MS added a "favourites" directory to windows

and

b) Firefox doesn't only run on windows. What would be the point of saving all your bookmarks/favourites to a windows system folder if you are running firefox on *nix or Mac?

But Firefox could be smart enough to recognize that it runs on Windows and use alternative bookmarks/favourites storage system (as it handles differences between Windows/Apple/*nix GUIs).
