GTD and Mind Manager

Hello

I have just downloaded Mind Manager, since I have heard David Allen talking about it regularly.

Does anyone have any tips on what mind maps would be usefull for GTD (if possible some example maps would be great).

Any user experiences? How did mind manager help to get more efficient?

Any comments, suggestions woudl be great

Thx

GTD and Mind Manager

Hello,

Personally I use Mind Manager for brainstorming, so before deciding what are projects, next actions... let's say for a creating phase before the more analtyc phase of GTD.

I also use Mind Manager for the list of my projects and sub-projects. Indeed i prefer this visualisation to a single project list.

Unfortunately, this is no connection between Mind Manager and Thinking Rock, the software I use for GTD.

Does anyone use a GTD software that have mind maps functionalities?

Here you can a Mind Map of GTD:

I use MindManager for Project Planning, as well as to keep an inventory of the "higher levels". I have a Mindmap called "Areas of Focus" and I have goals attached to each of those areas. For projects, next actions go onto my next actions lists...I don't typically use the MindMap to take the place of those. I HAVE done that, however, and it works pretty nicely for a short time period. (comes in handy if you have a lot to do and you are a bit numb to your lists).

I also use it to take notes during my reading, during conference calls and, of course, to brainstorm. I've used a one page Mindmap exclusively to facilitate a full-day session on goal setting, as well as to make my notes for any public speaking event.

For the holidays, I use it to make a day-by-day plan of what meals to serve company, what presents each person wants, and entertainment ideas such as movies or dvds.

Before taking a trip, think about doing all the planning with a Mindmap. I'm an independant Consultant so I always have to plan way ahead for trips. I took an 18-day cruise/tour of the Mediterranean this last summer and I had one Mindmap to keep me organized with all that I needed to think about ahead of time PLUS my wardrobe for each day. The idea was not to overpack...I still did, but maybe not as badly as in the past.

Think of it as a great way to organize your thoughts...on whatever topic your thoughts need to be organized! I consider it to be the one piece of software that I could not live without!

Not directly related to GTD or mindmanager, but I did have a great experience with mind mapping recently.

I was tasked with facilitating some group discussions where we had some strong personalities and needed to reach consensus as a group. I used whiteboards and colored markers to draw mindmaps and the whole process was very smooth.
