GTD Connect is here! thread is closed.

Lisa,

Thank you for closing the "GTD Connect is here!" thread and removing all the posts. Some posts contained criticism and reading them was making me sad (even if those posts were mine). Now without any public criticism of this $48/month service I will be happy because I will know that no user has any problems with it. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Isn't it ironic?

TesTeq,

unfortunately I didn't pay much attention to the "GTD Connect is here!" thread.
And now that I have some time to read it, that thread is closed. Isn't it ironic?
Did I miss anything?

I have to agree with TesTeq here (assuming I'm reading his post correctly and picking up on the sarcasm).

I have no problem with the closing of the "GTD Connect is here!" if the thread was truly going nowhere; but when taken along with the removal of all posts, it does smack of censorship.

While I can appreciate Davidco don't particularly want criticism of the GTD Connect program here, the way to deal with it, IMHO, is to deal with the criticism and win the argument in the same public space, *not* simply lock the thread and delete all the posts within it. That just smacks of a young child taking his ball away 'cos he doesn't win the game.

Remving spam and obviously actionable and offensive posts is one thing, but removing posts that criticise the company or product is something I had hoped never to see.

I can only hope that the removal of the posts in that thread were an accident and not deliberate on the part of Lisa/Davidco; if so, that's just shameful.

Speaking for myself I found that the thread contained several small-minded, rude, and counter-productive posts. As someone who is considering joining GTD Connect at the date of this posting, I can say that I found those posts to be less than useless in helping me make a considered decision to invest or not.

Lisa is correct in saying that there are appropriate channels for feedback - the Davidco team are responsive to constructive input. Blasting minor gripes about page layouts all over the worldwide web is not the way it’s done.

What's wrong with that?

Could you please provide any example of small-mindedness or rudeness? I haven't noticed. There was a discussion about the value for the money and some conceptual and technological issues.

I think there are important website usability issues, not just page layout issues. Page layout is beautiful. I do not understand why we cannot have an open discussion about these issues. What's wrong with that?

Ironic

It's funny that they took the thread down because it was so negative but then at the same time they implement a suggest that was made in that same thread to use smaller badges.

I apologise if some of my post appeared rude. I do take issue with being called small-minded. I am not as articulate as kewms nor verbose as staff nor as brilliant as DA but I am not small-minded.

BTW, read the first post in that thread. Read it from the vantage point of being a company that does not own this website. It read like a advertisement that all of us would markup as spam immediately. If you post something here expect comments back, positve and negative. We have people here all the time criticize aspects of GTD. If the tone of some of the posts was rude, call us out on that. We will correct that.

If you are not going to subscribe you missed nothing.

This thread was one of the leaks from the discussions that take place in the forum area restricted to the GTD Connect subscribers. In my opinion it is better for DavidCo to allow such open discussions on their website than to search the whole web for criticism. Besides people considering GTD Connect subscription should have access to the wide range od comments. That is my point.

If you are not going to subscribe you missed nothing.

Ok.

Sorry for my opinion.

Best Channels For Feedback

Guys,

We love your feedback. We want your feedback. We implement your feedback.

So, moving forward, if you are a Connect member, please put your ideas into the "Connect Suggestion Box." Suggestion box forum entries get emailed to us as well, so we can give them proper attention. If you are not a Connect member yet, we still want to hear from you -- best way is to email connect@davidco.com.

The main purpose of the two public forums is to give the general public a place to discuss GTD and GTD Gear. So, by using the Suggestion Box or email for your Connect suggestions, we can keep the discussions in the public forums focused and furthermore, our staff will be able to give you and your ideas more timely and individual attention.

Thanks!
