GTD Live Audio Set

Hi all,
I am curious whether anyone has ordered/listened to the GTD Live CD set that David sells online. It lists for $395 and I am a little reluctant to order something that pricey without a few opinions from people that have ordered it or heard the content. What live seminar are the recordings from?

Any insight you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

It appears to be an updated version of the 2-day seminar, similar to the "GTD Fast" CD's that are occasionally still available on ebay. This is a comprehensive introduction to GTD. GTD Fast provided me with a lot of insights that I did not have after reading the GTD book. The current Roadmap seminar is 1 day. I understand the Roadmap is somewhat condensed, necessarily devoting less time to participant exercises. But my knowledge of the new CD's is only inferred, so perhaps someone else can correct me if necessary.
 
Similar to RoadMap But Longer

The GTD Live CD set is an extended version of the same material that forms the basis of the current RoadMap seminar. Allowing for lunch and breaks the RoadMap is about 6.5 hours long, and the 10-CD set is almost double that in length. While it is a little on the pricey side, it is less than half the price of the live seminar, and can of course be listened to over and over again.

I have probably played the GTD Live set through 8-10 times now since acquiring it--very good for anyone with a reasonably lengthy commute. It's focused, engaging, and provides many insights into GTD and what it takes to make it work. Much like the seminars themselves, repeated listening (attendance) continues to bear fruit, as you see the material and your engagement with it from many different angles over time.

So for me it's a definite thumbs up,

While I don't own GTD Live, I did obtain a copy of GTD Fast a while back, and recently re-listened to it, and found it useful for the reasons John mentions above.

I haven't heard the GTD Live set. I am sure that it is top notch just like every DA product/seminar I have been to.

I have been to the roadmap as well as the mastering workflow seminars and I would recommend them both. That said, I only was able to go because my work helped flip the bill.

If cost is an issue for you, I recommend the following:

-Get GTD Fast from your local library. With enough searching I was able to find it, on cassette tape!- it took some work though.

-Check out David Allen's friend Buzz Bruggeman's website where he summarizes the Roadmap in san Jose. This is a fairly good overview of the topics David went through. Although not a substitute by any means- still a great resource.

Thanks for the great link Erik. That summary is a very good overview that I will use to put my book notes from GTD into better context. I appreciate it.

Anyone else have experience with David's new GTD Live?
 
Inspiring

I have "read" GTD book as an audiobook more than 3 times and 3 months ago I purchased GTD Live. I found it very useful. The content and lessons are very similar to the book but the delivery is entirely different. Since the time I listened to GTD live I have managed to do my weekly reviews regularly . So I felt it was money well spent.
 
I would try to track down a copy of Getting Things Done Fast. In my opinion is a much better product than GTD Live. GTD Live seems to have been taped in front of a college audience and has odd, distracting summary voice overs. GTD Fast was taped during an actual seminar and the overall tone is much different. I think the GTD Fast version is a great product and I found it very useful.
