Have IPhone 3g 16G, want to upgrade to 3GS questions

Hey,

Just got the IPhone 3g 16gig model and I love it. I think I want to sell mine and get a 3GS. I have Nozbe on there, and all my contacts on IPhone, text messages, recent calls, etc. I like the 3GS faster browser, voice dialing, cut and paste, video camera, better still camera, and voice recorder.

1-How do I get all the stuff from the old phone to the new phone? I am especially concerned about the Nozbe stuff, voicemail, text messages, etc.

2-For those that have the 3GS, how is it? Do you like it?

3-Any word on the Iphone close that is suppose to be coming to Verizon? I can't stand ATT reception and all the dropped calls.

4-I saw all these ads on Craigslist where they will actually buy my phone for $300. Are they buying these phones here and reselling them somewhere else for a higher price?

Nothing to worry about there. The reps at the AT&T store will transfer all that information for you. We just upgraded my son from a iPhone 2G to 3G and everything came over without a hitch--even his SMS history, which I didn't think would transfer.

2-For those that have the 3GS, how is it? Do you like it?

I don't personally have one, but my brother does and he loves it. I've had a chance to compare my 3G to his 3GS side-by-side and, for me, it would be a nice-to-have upgrade, but not earthshatteringly crucial. If I had the extra money to burn right now, sure, I'd upgrade (as an early adopter, I can get it for the upgrade price). But I don't, so I won't.

Nothing I've heard. In fact, AT&T's contract with Apple recently got extended to 2010. So, I doubt it will be any time soon. Apple and AT&T seem to be comfortable with each other from everything I've read. So, I doubt much will change on that front for a while. I'm with you, though--Verizon's network is much better, but they have the worst phones IMHO.

Cell Phone Restrictions

I want iPhone on Sprint. It's the best service in our area. ATT is second then t-Mobile and Verizon a distant 4th. On our property there are 2 places we can get and send Verizon calls. One is climbing up on a stump over in the guest house yard and the other is down in the front field at one spot on the dam of our large pond. I even have pictures on my blog of one of the NAGP guys using the Verizon stump last year.

I'm really hoping the FCC investigation of the phone linking to provider stuff will result in things being much more open.

The sprint coverage is why I am considering a Palm Pre for my next phone/GTD stuff. But I really want the Omnifocus app on my phone and that means iPhone.

My cell phone is the only farm phone. We do not have any land lines, even our internet is wireless, so I really need best coverage to service my customers.

I can't really see Apple making a Verizon or Sprint version. Both of their current networks are CDMA which is mostly North America. AT&T and T-Mobile use GSM, which is used in most of the rest of the world. That's how AT&T is able to claim in their ads "more bars in more places". Apple only had to build one phone to sell around the world.

Since everyone is apparently working on their 4G networks, I don't think there will be an iPhone for Verizon and Sprint until the new networks are widely available and all carriers are using it. Maybe in 2012 or 2013?

Which is one big factor in support for the google phone. The chipset in it can support either network and several different frequency bands within those networks.

My ideal would be an iPhone with a keyboard like the Palm Pre or Treo and supported on both Sprint & T-Mobile depending on which sim card I have in at the time. I don't need many applications, SplashShopper, Omnifocus, Yojimbo notes, calendar like iCal and address book will be fine. No camera required.
