Haven't been able to download the podcasts in iTunes for 2 months...

Hello, fellow GTD Connect members...

I have not been able to download new podcasts in iTunes since early May. ITunes says I am subscribed, but the newest podcasts simply have not been downloading. I've unsubscribed and re-subscribed (using this URL:http://www.davidco.com/connect/podcast.php). I'm really missing listening to the content… does anyone have any idea what might be wrong and how to fix it??

Thanks in advance!

Namaste -

Hi John, Can you send me the info as well? I'm having the same issue. By the way, if you're reading this entry then the problem I was experiencing posting on the site must be some sort of block placed on by my company, not this site. I'll just have to post from home going forward. Thanks!

Hi All,

Here is the subscription link:
http://gettingthingsdone.com/connect/podcast.php

Next, make sure that you are logging in (authenticating) with your GTD Connect user name and your password.

Most issues are resolved by checking that the subscription link is correct, and that the authentication is working with your GTD Connect user name and password.

We have more detailed configuration help at this link, including screen shots.

If this doesn't do it, feel free to post with more details about your situation, or email connect@davidco.com.

Hi Vickie, I'm glad to see that you're able to post. You might ask someone in IT at your company if they have blocked certain types of sites, like forums.

Is Connect no longer including the video version of webinars in the iTunes feed? I noticed for the past few webinars that iTunes is only giving me the option of downloading the .mp3 version, but no .mv4 version. Can we have those added again to http://gettingthingsdone.com/connect/podcast.php?

Thanks!
Tom

Hi Tom,

I'll check into that right now. I see the first of David's three July webinars shows up as audio and video, but the next two are audio only. I'll have an update for you by tomorrow.

Hi Tom,

Have a look again now. I re-posted the .m4v files for the Crafting Your External Brain and Optimizing Your System webinars. Now the video of all three July webinars is showing up in the iTunes feed for me. Let me know if it's working for you.

Hi again, still can't get the podcasts working after following the instructions. Have also resubscribed a few times. Thanks in advance.

Hi Jacinta, I'll answer your email, and we'll figure it out that way. Might need you to send me a screen shot.

This is still on my someday/maybe list - I've been trying off and on for a couple of years and it still doesn't work. I think I had one podcast that downloaded. I've tried re-subscribing so many times... I'm sure it's got to do with the logging in because I have no trouble at all with any other podcast.

Hi Siobhan, yes, it sounds like it has to do with authentication. I'll mention a couple of things here, and we can go into more detail if you email me, using either connect@davidco.com or john@davidco.com.

So, authentication. GTD Connect allows members to log in with their user name or their email address, but the iTunes authentication will only accept your username, not your email. (For some people their user name is their email address, so iTunes accepts that.)

If you haven't been using your username, I recommend deleting any GTD Connect podcasts you have, deleting the subscription, closing out of iTunes completely, and then re-opening iTunes. You can then subscribe from scratch. And here's the link with info about that, in case you don't have it handy.

Again, please feel free to email me if this doesn't fix it for you. I'll might ask you for more info about your system, and possibly a couple of screen shots.
