Ideas for a Visual To-Do List?

I currently keep my next actions in Toodledo and it works OK at best. I am a really visual and spacial person. What worked for me on paper was small post-its that I could rearrange on paper. It had its limitations, but it really helped me organize. I have yet to find something similar in electronic format. I would really love something web-based that I could use across PC/iPad/iPhone.

Color and ease of movement are important. There are sticky note programs for the PC and iPad, but not that syncs.

Any suggestions?

Note: I've tried mindmaps but the are not really up to the task (at least not that I can tell).

I also am a visual person. I used paper for over a decade, and following various PDAs for a decade am going back to paper. Saying "things written on paper are more real" may or may not be true for everyone, but is certainly true for visual people. You can back up the paper easily with a digital camera and work around other issues, but if you have a choice stick with paper.

is this too silly?

What about using a .jpg on a filesharing site? It would be accessible by any iPad, etc, and downloadable (wallpaper?) for when there is no internet access.

You could capture onto sticky notes, and during daily/weekly reviews lay everything out on sheets of paper on a desk, and take an updated photo, accessible to all of your devices.

Note that you wouldn't need to carry the sticky notes with you during the day.

Of course, this doesn't let you put new information directly into your existing system, but a 'daily review' (good practice anyway) to get inboxes to empty and then "click", take a few photos, and there you'll have what you need. The date/time stamp on the photos would keep you from having to worry about using an out-of-date one.

This idea sounds unorthodox, I know. *smile*

I've found listhings.com which works fairly well. The only problem is that I can't move the notes on iphone/iPad.

Have you seen Evernote? I use Evernote to sync my PC, Blackberry Storm, and (former) work Macs. The program allows me, a visual person, to keep track of photos (grabbing words from snapshots), documents, web pages, email, text notes, and audio prompts. The podcasts are fun, too. http://www.evernote.com/about/learn_more/

I use it frequently (though I like OneNote better).

It doesn't suit my needs for a todo list.

OneNote is fine in using for todo list. But the problem is, does it sync with the iPad? (since it was the problem of the ts)
I would also like to know if anyone has a good idea of what to use?

There is a product called mobilenoter that has basic sync for iPad/iPhone. I've got it on my iPad, but have not had the time to sit down and figure all the sync stuff out.

I guess the new office live web apps version of onenote would do.

It can takes 2-3 minutes to open onenote via iPad 3G.

wow, that's appalling. I can run it perfectly smoothly on a laptop tethered to a 3g android or my mobile broadband dongle so it won't be the bandwidth. Maybe its not optimised for whatever version of safari the ipad uses.
