Identifying projects with the Netcentrics Outlook Add-in

I've been trialling the Netcentrics outlook add-in for a week now. Previously I had the usual GTD @ categories, plus Projects. The Add-in converted everything in the projects list to a project and I was left with the task of linking my other actions to projects.

Something interesting happened along the way.

Many next actions had a legitimate project to link to. Others didn't - but the project handling in the tool is so nice it had me thinking. Those next actions without project did have one after all.

For example,

• "Call Nick and Mary" has been linked to the new project "Friendships maintained".
• "Read Listening Leaders" has been linked to the new project "Listening skills sharpened".

and so on. I'm finding that everything now has its place and the new project titles are suggesting a number of open loops I wasn't aware of.

That's very cool.

I really like the Outlook Add-on for that same reason - the wonderful links between Projects and NA's. And the more I get into GTD, the more I realize that there are VERY few (if any) one step NA's. Almost every NA is a Problem to be solved --- or a Project. That's why we're DOING IT?

I like your examples of "Project: Friendships Maintained". Normally, that would either go untracked or into a checklist which wouldn't be reviewed as often as probably necessary.

Great collaborative feedback Ryan. I find that I don't check checklists unless they are part of something I'm doing so I think building associated 20,000ft+ projects will work well. Then I do get to them every week. With that particular project and the Outlook add-in I have created a sub-project for each person/family I want to develop stronger friendships with.
