It allow you to be completely “in the moment”. This is a wonderful thing. Many books have been wrote on the subject of being in the moment and achieving that state yet most still tussle with it. I find it funny that GTD (all though indirectly) helps you achieve this state of mind.
You cant be in the moment if your still thinking about things that need to be done. Time without attention is useless.
Broadly speaking there two types people
The ones who have the ability naturally be in the moment most of the time. These people are generally really relaxed and fun people to be around, but forget mostly EVERYHTING. Hard to rely on etc which I cant stand
And then there are those who hardly ever forget things, they get things done, they are often good reliable people. But mostly these people struggle to let their hair down and be in the moment to enjoy themselves because they are still caught up thinking about all the things that need to be done. So they aren’t as relaxed or fun like type one.
I’m just starting to find that with GTD you can manage to get both down to a T!
Building/creating a system that you can really trust plays a major role. Then making a commitment to yourself to stick with the weekly (or less) review. Job done.
Just thought I would share as I’m coming to grips with getting things done and this perk is one I like the most.
