implementing 100% vs. non purging

I think I have implemented GTD very good
- capturing of everything
- inbox to zero on regular basis
- processing
- weekly review
- tickler file
- file folders
and the daily work is done in a relatively smooth way

but
there are a lot of shelfs, boxes etc in my house & garage (containing reference material seldom used) that would need to be purged, which is already on my lists

Now the question:
Is it true that I didn´t apply GTD at 100% while there is this non-purged "stuff" ?

On the other hand, I remember the example from the book: as soon as I write down "purge garage", it should give some psychic relief.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I would say purging your materials you don't need any more is just a project, they wont disappear through the GTD process naturally.

You may find you haven't accrued any more since you started with GTD, but the old stuff is there until you decide to ditch it.

implementing 100%

Have you written down everything you still need to purge, and are they projects or someday/maybes? If they are projects do you have desired outcomes and current next actions? Are you reviewing them? If you have done that, then, in this regard, you are implementing 100%.

If it's still on you mind AND not on your list you didn't apply GTD at 100%.

Free your mind by writing down what's on your mind!

explanation

I think I write down 100%,
but the mass of "stuff" which has to be processed/purged has increased about 10% during my GTD-time.

So all of you agree when that "stuff" is on a list, the implementing is successful?

yep

I agree...

Your "stuff" is just one huge project (of maybe several)... it's something you're dealing with, it's just not finished yet, and it's not because a project is not finished that you're not implementing 100%...

But... in between the lines I sort of read that you're not happy with this situation... you seem to be looking for an "ok" from us, when you seem not happy with that stuff lying around... maybe that just means that this project (sort "stuff" out) should become a higher priority on your project list.

Anything stored in the garage would have to be backlog. Watch the backlog webinars, backlog should be treated like a separate project.
