Inbox cleared!

Let's stop talking about Inbox Zero (even Merlin Mann decided not to write the Inbox Zero book).

Let's call it inbox clearence - consisting of identifying and removing dangerous explosives and ignoring ordinary stones, small animals and spam!

INBOX CLEARED is the proper term!

It may be helpful to think of your time back to GTD as just an adventure. Explore, walk around, see what works for you and what doesn't' work. I stumbled on Nirvana once and didn't think it was helpful. Played around with Evernote, looked at many other system and then through a friends help looked at Nirvana again. The lights went on and all was clear.

Emergency scanning?

I may be mistaken, but to me that sounds more like 'emergency scanning' as David Allen describes. It's certainly valuable when there's no time for filing things away, and at least you're left knowing there are no land mines lurking in your inbox. But it's nowhere near as freeing as a zero inbox.

Raking the remains.

No, I'm raking the remains (ie. ordinary stones, small animals and spam) into the "archive" folder.
