Ipads and Outlook 2010 - for those on the move

I travel a lot and use an iPad provided by the company. reminders, emails and diary are all synchronised with my desktop computer which runs Outlook 2010.

The problem is that the iPad "reminders" applcation simply lists everything as a task with no categories or context. This makes the quick review difficult and GTD methodology less effective.

Has anyone found a way to make this combination of technology work work better? It is not an option for me to change technology.

Reminders / MS Exchange

Hi Philip,

I have the same Tools (Exchange/iPhone). Here is my simple GTD setup (7 different lists) :

1 - Next Actions
2 - Tickler
3 - Agendas
4 - Waiting For
5 - Someday Maybe
6 - Projects
7 - Perspective

I don't use categories anymore for the contexts in Outlook but I tag all my Next Actions with the context (e.g. @Calls Philip about GTD Setup number XXX).
You can search in Reminders keywords/contexts to pick up the next stuff to do.

I recently split "Agendas" and "Waiting For" into lists after reading this post : http://simplicitybliss.com/blog/2013/1/simple-gtd-with-apples-reminders-app.

"Perspective" stands for higher horizons with 4 "tasks" (one for each horizon from 20,000 to 50,000 level) but I'm looking for a better way to handle it (perhaps Mind Map).

I hope it helps.

Try TASKTASK HD app .... I use this all the time ... it syncs with Exchange server and also carries categories and flagged items in Outlook 2010.

While Outlook is the default productivity application where I work, it's only mandatory for email and calendar. I assume this would be the case for many organisations because task lists are generally a personal thing rather than being group-oriented.

A number of task management applications that can be used on mobile devices also provide a web interface, synchronization over the Internet and email-to-inbox functionality so they remain well-connected to whatever system is being used for email and calendar.

I'm using Appigo Todo (iPhone, iPad, Mac at home and web on a PC at work). Toodledo has a similar offering.

Really useful thank you. The article is very useful and I have already forwarded it to others .

No all I need to do is master how to reply on this forum. Hopefully you get this

iMExchange2

I use iMExchange2. it sync's both tasks and notes and brings over categories and even allows you to sort by categories.
