iPhone vs Blackberry

Has anyone used both iPhone and Blackberry (BB)?
Any tips from those who have used both devices?

Next month work will now support email on iPhone in addition to BB.

I sync calendar/NA's (tasks)/contacts/email/notes between Outlook 2003 and Blackberry Bold (thru Blackberry Enterprise Server wirelessly). Works fairly well..How do these basic apps function on current iPhone system when syncing with Outlook (compared to BB).

Apps on Blackberry, in addition to native ones, I use include
-evernote
-timr
-quickpull

Benefits I'd have for switching from BB to iPhone include
-portable app for my work not available on BB
-sync w/ iTunes I use on iPod daily

IT says they will be syncing iPhone with Outlook via Exchange Active Sync (wirelessly). Anyone know how well this works? In some ways, I have missed much of Outlook's functionality on the Blackberry. Will this be an improvement?
 
Although I haven't used an iPhone 4 myself, from what I hear Active Sync on the iPhone is not without its problems. While it works well for some people, many have been reporting problems and various irritations. Check out this discussion here as it is quite enlightening:

BlackBerry's synchronization through BES and Exchange on the other hand is flawless. They have been doing this for a decade now, so they've had a lot of time to perfect it. When you switch to an iPhone you will no longer have the support the comes with BES, so that's something to keep in mind.

I've got both a Blackberry (belongs to company) and iPhone (belongs to me).
When I first got my iPhone I tried switching everything to that - syncing my email/contacts/calendar with Outlook 2003 via the exchange account. Whilst this all synchronized ok for me I just couldn't get on with using my iPhone for everything for 4 reasons:

1. I missed the physical qwerty keyboard that I have on my Blackberry Curve - I can type with both hands (thumbs) on this and like the physical key press - I just couldnt input as quickly on the iPhones "touch" keyboard;
2. Email was lacking features - e.g. it's really easy to file a mail in a folder on a Blackberry and the BB often auto associates and email with a certain folder for me when i go to file it - think it must recognise sender of keywords in subject line and "learn" from where I've filed previously - no such luck on iPhone and also when I go to file all my folders are always "expanded" so I sometimes have a long list to search through to find what I want.
3. Battery on iPhone just didn't last long enough - had to turn of 3GS, bluetooth etc to get the battery life up to something decent.
4. Calendar - whilst more attractive than the BB calendar I couldn't set reminders on Calendar items more than 3 days in advance when entering new items via the iPhone which just frustrated me!

So - I still prefer and use my BB for email, Calendar and contacts - as it's also my phone like the fact I can enter new contacts on my Outlook contacts and the numbers are there ready for me to call on my BB.

I do use my iPhone as a list manager though. I've not been able to find anything half as good on BB as some of the list manager apps available on the iPhone. I currently use Toodledo which I like because of its relative simplicity (compared to something like Omnifocus which I've also tried) and importantly it's web based so I can access it easily through my work laptop without needing to install any software or having the problem of using a mac app that's not available for a windows PC (again like Omnifocus). I can also easily add items to my Toodledo list by emailing items from my Blackberry to a toodledo email address.

Glad to see your post. The Outlook (OL) sync is big for me. I Use full Outlook on desktop more than handheld.

1-Next Actions:Had you tried OL tasks for next actions and synced with iPhone?
2-Calendar: Can iPhone handle more than one calendar from OL? (BB cannot) I have separate folders for calendars in OL: myself/wife's/each kid's
3-Email: Is iPhone as speedy as BB for syncing with OL?
 
TaskJot is another BB option

I'm the same way with the touch interfaces. I just prefer to have real keys - I'm faster and more accurate using the Curve than I am on the iPhone or the Storm. I do want to try the new BB Torch but haven't had a chance to do it yet. It might be just the right mix of touch interface and tangible keys.

TaskJot is the app for BB that's similar to Toodledo for the iPhone. Its made by a different company so its not exactly the same as Toodledo and sometimes behind Toodledo in new features. Its young in its versions (still at version 1) so its got some kinks that are being worked out. There will be an updated version coming out before the end of the year (1.1) that will fix some bugs and add a couple major features.
 
There is no native task app on the iPhone.

The iPhone does not have a native task app, so I don't believe ActiveSync has a way of pushing todos to it. I don't know if there is an app store solution for that. Your other option is to use an online service like Toodledo and sync your tasks to it, and then get the Toodledo app for the iPhone or a app like Todo.

At work we use Lotus Notes, and after playing with apps like Remember the Milk and Toodledo, I find the built in Notes task list too limiting and annoying. I don't know how David Allen can use it.

IPhone and Blackberry

I too have both a blackberry and iphone....BB for business email/calendar/business phone line....on IPhone I use Evernote and Nozbe to keep on top of actions and projects with Evernote great for capturing and maintaining key business documents.

Tried outlook tasks but just couldn't keep it current. Think having the ability to email new tasks into toodledo really simply from my email inbox helps a lot.

Calendar - yes I think it can as I accidently set a duplicate calendar up in Outlook once and had both showing on my iPhone.

3. iPhone was pretty speedy at syncing, just found it frustrating sometimes when it was slow opening messages.

I am under the impression that iPhone security is not on par with what Blackberry offers.

This doesn't relate specifically to applications, but you may want to know.
