Looking for Smartphone/iPhone App to replace Above and Beyond

Hi,

I've been using Above and Beyond for years and really like it, the problem is that they have stopped updating the software and it isn't compatible with any of the recent smartphones.

What I liked about it so much was how easy it was to drag tasks around your schedule, and the ability to have floating and scheduled tasks. Does anyone know of any software that has a smartphone/iPhone app that could replace this? I need something that I could use on my PC desktop and sync with a smartphone. I'm not interested in products that sync to the outlook calendar as it doesn't allow for floating tasks.

Any help you could give me, or even other places to look, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Peter

Peter can you update to outlook 2007? Outlook 2007 allow them, your task that are day specific show in the bottom as floating events.

I don't believe that Outlook 2007 will allow me to assign durations to floating tasks. What I need is to be able to enter various tasks, how long each of them will take and allow them to be floating.

Aha, Above & Beyond was the software I remembered that does dynamic scheduling of tasks based on your input, right? The only things I know of with roughly similar features are Life Balance and Toodledo. With Life Balance it's a major feature, but not as regimented as A&B. With Toodledo it's a feature that I suspect not many users use. It's on the sidebar as Scheduler.

Those are close but what I need is something where I can assign tasks a duration and then move them around my schedule easily. This way I can put in all my tasks for the week then organize them by dragging them around.

Well, in that case, why not use a calendar? ical on a mac will let you do that, you can selectively turn off and on calendars, you can drag and drop from your todo list onto the calendar. There's no dynamic scheduling, of course; you'd have to do it yourself. I think Outlook has more or less the same sort of functionality.

Smart Time

You might take a look at Smart Time, by Left Coast Software. Their interface sounds like exactly what you're looking for. They allow you to enter tasks and events, and easily drag things around. It also has some intelligence built-in which will assign your tasks to open times. I haven't used the latest versions. I think this is exactly what you've described that you need.
