Microsoft Project?

I have a number of recurring projects. Each of it runs exactly for one year, after that it returns to zero. Of course I have some routines and plans and reference materials. Management occurs at my desktop in MS Outlook. I feel that the shifting between the big picture and the nitty gritty has become difficult.
=> Question: Anyone has experience with MS Project? Would it be worth a shot?
Price does matter in deciding a tool.

IMHO using MS Project for GTD is like:
-- English: taking a sledgehammer to crack a nut;
-- Polish: using a cannon to kill a sparrow.
And it is a one-platform solution.
My advice: keep it in Outlook.

MS Project maybe over kill for this imho.
If you are comfortable with using project management applications:

From Twiddlebit Software - small and nimble Project application, reasonable price. Can read Project 2013 files.

For non project yet has gnatt/timelines/hierarchical task manager that allows you to repeatedly sub-divide your tasks into more manageable pieces, which makes it ideal for IT-related projects as well as more general activities.

Have used both over the years with much success.

Outlook with categories and start/end dates will work yet for myself found it awkward when over 400 tasks even across categories. i.e. Longterm projects (6 month to 5 years) or PMs (daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly/semi and annual) are generated and tracked with Twiddlebit. Settled on Twiddlebit since it was able to run on a jumpdrive (encrypted of course) when paperbased started to take too much time.

of course ymmv.
