MindManager

Ive just purchased mind manager - anyone else using this. I have to say that working visually in a mind map format seems to have amazing potential for me.

I use an older version, 2002 Standard Edition, which doesn't have all the latest stuff but works great for my needs. I also do a lot of hand written (drawn?) ones mainly for taking meeting notes or drafting maps. I haven't used it for any specifically GTD type stuff but i plan to work on using it when planning GTD type 'projects'.

I have also recently purchased MM, and I am too impressed with its potential for me. Although I would be helped with some guidance on how to use it for GTD. Any helpful resources out there?

I would like to know how people lay out a project in MM to synch through Outlook/GTD. What kinds of templates have people set up?

I would like to know too how people generate next actions through MM. If I scheme out tasks for a project using the Outlook Task MapPart, after synching I flood my next actions list in Outlook with too many actions. An alternative is to generate in MM my tasks (sub-topics), and then convert the next action into an Outlook task, by cutting and pasting. But this is awkward. Does anyone have a better way to do this? Is there a simple way in MM to convert a sub-topic (action) into an outlook task?

Thanks!

I am also trying to work out how to implement with GTD (Im using bonsai). I have also read tony buzan's mind map book and am a little confused as to whether you have to stick to the one word per line rule - its hard for some note making tasks but ideal for brainstorming.

I have to admit I don't stick strictly to the rules. One word per line(or branch) doesn't work for me for notetaking. I do try to make the branches as concise as practicable though. I use the notes (Ctrl+T in my version) for more verbose details.

Mind Manager

I have been using Mind Manager for a couple of years and recently upgraded to x5 Pro. (I really did not need to upgrade) I love Mind Manager and it is a perfect tool with the GTD methodology. I love the ability to add notes to the topics and include the relationships between topics. Mind Manager is worth working with to gain some proficiency. I tried to use the Pocket PC version but that did not work too well for me. I love nothing more during my weekly review to do this using Mind Manager and retaining the Maps for later reference. Many of my maps are works in progress such as my personal goals, marketing and business plans etc. I have also used the import tool with Outlook tasks but for some reason that messed up my GTD add in software. I would love to get some best practices from other Mind Manager users out there.
