Need A Calendar Recommendation For A PC

I need a program that does not take up much memory, but can alert me at set intervals, say everyday at 10 am, about a specific task.

I'm a deadline driven environment and need reminders set up as a fail-safe in case I forget to do a certain item. It's not about having these on my task list, but rather getting an alert that says - hey, did you do this yet?

I currently use Outlook calendar to this, but I would like to separate my appointments from my reminders.

Suggestions?

I'm a huge fan of Google Calendar. Some of the main reasons why:

-- Easy access. I can pull it up on my home desktop, my home laptop, my work desktop, my iphone, your computer, my Wii, etc.
-- Shared calendars. Not necessarily important to you, but I can keep my personal life and my task list on the same calendar, but quickly hide one of them to focus on the other. I have a variety of calendars in there (me, my wife, our kids, my tasks, US holidays, Atlanta Braves schedule, etc) and I can show/hide any of them whenever I want.

This is where I love it. You can set three kinds of reminders for any item, with different intervals for each:

1: Email -- I usually set an e-mail reminder for 30-60 minutes before a time sensitive event, such as a meeting.
2: SMS Notifications -- I set these for about 10 minutes before the meeting, in case I'm elsewhere in the building and I'm not watching the clock.
3: Pop-up Notifications -- Sort of like Outlook's pop-up messages. I personally don't use these, but it sounds like they could be useful to you.

Hope that helps!

This will be separate from your appointments on the Outlook calendar

x2 - I have a list (category) for timed reminders in my Tasks folder for this. Bonus is that it uses software you're already using and have running so it's one less thing open (or out there for you to forget to open).

Regarding tasks in Outlook, are the alarms reoccurring if the task is. For example, if I have something to check every day at 9:15, will the alarm show up daily at the same time if I dismiss the alarm for the first day.

Or, do I need to hit snooze every day?

They recur - when you click off the task, it goes away but another one comes up in it's place with the new day and time. I used to use a recurring task for something like that but I've forgotten what now - it was 2 or 3 jobs ago.

I've got a couple of recurring tasks, but not necessarily every day. When the alarm pops up and I've completed the item, I open the task and give it the new date. Sometimes, it's the next day, while other times it's the next week. Works very well.
