Need advice on how to be reminded about taste

I want to remind myself to concentrate on the taste while eating. I need to eat not fast and discuss it :) Where can I put a reminder not to miss it?

Regards,

Eugene.

"By the door"

I think your reminder has to be right where you eat - get a little turtle figurine (or something else that means "slow and relaxing" to you) and put it right above your dinner plate where you'll see it throughout your meal.

Julia, I agree. Thanks for the advice! I can put some kind of a reminder at home for my breakfast and dinner but what about business lunch that could happen at a different time and different place?

Regards,

Eugene.

If you were a woman you could wear a bracelet charm or something like that. Maybe cuff links? A tie clip or key fob?

Eat at McDonald's.

Eat always at McDonald's so you will not have to taste the meal. And there is nothing wrong in fast-eating the fast-food. :-)

TesTeq,

in this case maybe it's better to make a label with a sign "If you see me eating please remind me to slow down. Thanks in advance!" :)

Eugene.

Kevms, thanks for your idea with wear-me-on reminder type.

Hi Eugene. This is a great question, and comes under the category of forming habits. In addition to the other suggestions: get a buddy (you can support each other), create a ritual around eating, consider eating in silence (no talking, no TV, etc,) try wildly varying your diet (eating very plain food for breakfast can 'reset' your taste buds, esp. when you switch back).

Final suggestion: I really like this topic. Short story: I once went to a meditation center where the focus was "conscious eating." All meals were in silence, and they encouraged us to count the number of chews for each mouthful of food, and try to make it at least 100. It was a great experience, and changed the way I eat (I'm still the slowest eater at every meal). Oh, and the record? One person said he chewed a bite of banana ... 500 times! We were skeptical - you'd be down to vapor at that point - but all-in-all a neat idea.

So good for you - and good luck!
