Need Recommendations on iPhone Windows GTD apps

I'm a GTD newbie and am looking to implement GTD with the most appropriate software.

Please bear with me as I'm on a mission to get things organized and want to use the most appropriate tools.

I have an iPhone and my PC runs Windows. I'd say 90% of my time, I'm in front of my computer, but that other 10% of the time, I often find myself generating ideas and thoughts out the wazoo that need to be captured and organized, thus the need for the iPhone app.

And if possible I'd also like things like push notification of reminders.

And can a GTD app integrate with Evernote, or should it? I got a scansnap duplex scanner and would like to eventually be as paper-free as possible with everything findable in Evernote and accessible in a GTD way.

The problem I have is that I'm at my Windows PC most of the time, so I need a good Windows app far more than a good iPhone app. But it appears there are many more good iPhone apps than for Windows.

Secondly, I do leave the house, so I need the iPhone app and the Windows app to sync to the same server.

So far, I'm thinking toodledo as the server as it appears to have a lot of apps that support it. Not too keen on it's windows app, but that's all I can really find that I like that accesses any kind of server that a decent iPhone app also does.

I think there are a few topics on this perhaps you can do a search on iphone and find them.

Review of Appigo ToDo and how you can apply GTD to it.

There are a few mind mapping software but i am using iThoughts and i think it is one of the best. Here is a writeup on the features.

I find it most helpful to put information into Evernote, and projects and next actions into my list manager (currently Toodledo). In Evernote, I have some notebooks

Inbox
Project and Next Action Support
Done
Reference

Stuff moves from Inbox to Support, and then to Done or Reference. I have other, specialized notebooks, and some stuff goes directly to Reference, but that's the flow of work. Done is for stuff I think I won't need to see again, Reference for stuff I think I might. Evernote search lets me not agonize over which notebook stuff goes into. I use tags to keep support information together, but will move the material out of Support and delete the tag after a project is clearly finished.

Example: I need to send a number of letters of recommendation for a student to various places (web sites these days). Each email I get is clipped into the Inbox. When I process it, it gets tagged and put in Support. When I'm working on this student's recommendations, I'll look at Support items with the right tag. When I process each request (filling out a web form and uploading a letter), I move that item from Support to Done. In a few months, I'll delete the tag, but still be able to find all the information by search on the student's name.

Working on the project and doing the next actions is driven by my lists, not by Evernote.

Hope this helps!

Very Informative!

Thank you!
