The Netcentrics GTD Outlook Add-In will automatically configure Outlook in the way we suggest in the Setup Guide and then give you a toolbar to automate some functions and views for seeing things like Actions by Project.
So it does some of the same in terms of initial setup, but then gives additional functionality that "vanilla" Outlook doesn't provide.
That said, we typically recommend people for the Add-in when you have a solid understanding of GTD. If you don't yet, I'd say stick with the Setup Guide and vanilla Outlook for now.

Netcentric Addin Question and Blackberry Synching
Hi, I've just finished the Netcentrics Outlook trial and am dithering about buying it.
I have 2010. I've seen posts saying to buy the Guide and setup Outlook manually first, but will I learn any more from the Guide for the cost?
Also, can you point me to a thread to get help synching with BB? I just upgraded the Desktop program yesterday and it's got a brand new interface (which was annoying as I had to reconfigure some apps and I've lost BB AppWorld).

Ive been using it for two years. I used the process manually before that. It makes it simpler and faster to do GTD, as it has specific rules.
The alternate views it provides are really cool. Specially project views and completed tasks.
Caveat emptor- it also makes you lazy. Therefore, remember to edit the subject line of your tasks to include action words (and not have the email subject line).
You also need to do weekly reviews regularly to avoid the false sense of control it can give you

It comes into it own for linkimg emails to actions/filing emails/defering email actions to future dates. Also grouping actions by project is good if most of your actions are @office based in which case grouping by context isn't as useful for you as it is for (say)David Allen who spends a lot of time on travelling!

Netcentrics vs Ceptara plus Synching program question
Thanks for all the helpful advice.
I was reading the LinkedIn group messages today and someone recommended Ceptara (which is cheaper than Netcentrics).
How does Ceptara compare with Netcentrics?
Also, it seems that there are two or three popular ways of synching tasks with an i-pad: Toodledo, Remember the Milk, and ToDo.
Given that the Netcentrics add-in only does basic Task synching with devices, which of those three programs would you recommend?
