Netcentrics Question

90% of our projects use the same project/subproject breakdown. The only difference being the project name. Is there any way to easily copy/reuse the same project/subproject structure over and over? I'd think there would be a copy command on the manage projects window but there is not. There is an import/export option, perhaps I can accomplish the same thing with that?

Thank You

Hi,

You can contact them at gtdsupport@netcentrics.com .

You may also find solutions to your questions on their support site at http://gtdsupport.netcentrics.com . Here you will find product update information, a knowledge base, a list of Frequently Asked Questions, a User Forum and product tour.

Please don't hesitate to contact them directly!
Thank you Liz. Frankly the Netcentrics GTD user forum is worthless, as it would appear to be a big secret as to how to join. It is entirely possible I am blind, if so, would someone point out to me where the link is to join because I sure cannot find it. https://gtdsupport.netcentrics.com/forum/

I also purchased the software but have never received a registration code. I guess I have to write support for it, which perhaps I would not find irritating except for the inability to join the forum. I'm going to guess that perhaps only licensed users can join the forum, that seems hard to believe though.

It was a million years ago when I first bought the NetCentrics GTD plugin, but I seem to remember that during the initial software registration process, it took me to their website to register. Their website confirms this here.

Unsolicited advice: I stopped using the NetCentrics add-in due to stability issues with Outlook at work. I currently run without any add-ins, but if I were looking for an add-in today, I would use ClearContext Professional, which I own, but don't use. Highly powerful, highly flexible, often updated. They even have a GTD whitepaper here.

Thanks, I tried ClearContext. I'd have loved to given them my money as opposed to NetCentrics, as CC seems to have a very active user community which they participate in, and it also seems to be a constantly developing product, they are the types of folks I live to give my money to. But the interface was just not at all to my personal tastes.

Does anyone know if the GTD plugin can be used on more than one computer? I cannot get an answer from NetCentrics nor can I find an answer on the website (most software clearly states whether it can be run on more than one machine).

p.s. By more than one computer I mean do I have to buy an additional license for each computer? I know that I can use it on more than one computer.

Since I somewhat badmouthed NetCentrics here I just wanted to follow up and say that when I sent email to support they did respond quickly but I somehow missed the email.

And the answer to my question as given by them is that the plugin can be used on 2 computers.

Regarding my earlier comment that it is a secret as to how to join their form, I discovered that the only way it can be done is from the help menu in the plugin !

Netcentrics support

Hi David,

Thank you for posting this follow-up. From my experience over the past three years of working with the folks at Netcentrics it is usually an email glitch, either they are not getting the emails or the customer is not receiving them. That goes for 98% of the problems we have experienced. I also encourage anyone to email us, we always help folks connect if needed with Netcentrics, they don't have phone support but if you need a link and can't get reach them, please email me. I most easily reached at liz.harward@davidco.com. I am happy to help folks get in touch directly with Netcentrics- it is FASTER to do this yourself by emailing the support line directly at gtdsupport@netcentrics.com .

My support email is what I will forward to them with an email address of how to reach them. I have renewed my own support with this company- the software is very helpful for many, many people. It is not for everyone, but that goes for any piece of software!

As a company we are on Lotus Notes and I just started using Eric Mack's program eProductivity. It is amazing and I already don't know what or how I functioned with out it. I LOVE this program, it is more expensive the The Netcentics Outlook Add-in but if you are on Notes and deal with hundreds of email a day it is well worth the price.

Glad you are handled David, and again- thanks so much for taking the time to let folks know how you got support. I will talk to Netcentrics too at the GTD Summit and do a little brainstorming about how to make support easier for folks. I am committed to making sure our customers get what they need when they need it! Anyone out there, please at any time email me: customerservice@davidco works just fine.

Thanks Liz!

I have downloaded trials of both Lotus and the eProductivity applications but have not tried them yet. I sure would love to hear a comparison of why/how it is better than Outlook with the DTG plugin. You are making me want to run to the computer I installed it on and try it :).

Regarding NetCentrics my main comment would be that they should make it easy for people to join their forum, i.e. it should be able to be done right from the website. It's rather ridiculous to:

1. Require people to install the program and use the help menu to join the forum.
2. On top of it not say anywhere on the main page of the forum how one would go about accessing it!

Otherwise I am at this point happy with the GTD plugin, though it would be nice to feel like it was a more "active" product with regards to development and improvement.

Again, thanks for your participation.
