Organizing Tasks into Projects on a BlackBerry (see inside)

I've been looking for a way to organize my Tasks into Projects on my BlackBerry device, in a way that continues to use the default Tasks database. I need to keep everything in Tasks, because I sync that with Outlook and Remember the Milk OTA.

I'd love to find an app that lets me take those existing Tasks, add some additional metadata "glue" to them to associate them with projects and contexts, and still manage the status, completion, etc. through the normal Tasks fields.

The most-important thing here is that I don't want Yet Another App where Tasks are entered and are unable to sync back to the desktop or any other apps OTA. I don't want to have to copy-and-paste data around between apps that don't talk to each other.

Whatever is used, should continue to read/write to the default BlackBerry Tasks application database. I don't care if I have to use another app to integrate, see, view or manage that data, but Tasks should still continue to exist as standalone items in the default Tasks application.

Does anyone actually use a BlackBerry to manage Tasks, and organize them into Projects? If so... how?

This list doesn't seem to have anything worthwhile, nor anywhere close to what I'm looking for.

I'm not familiar with Blackberry tasks but I set RTM up successfully in a GTD manner (getting ideas from a thread or two on their forums and maybe a blog post or two). I used some certain character in front of the tags for project titles and another certain character in front of contexts IIRC. Tags are what I loved in RTM. And the powerful search/filter ability to build lists of exactly what you wanted.

What made it not work for me was the ugly interface and the fact that when you built those lovely saved searches (it's been a while so I may not be using the right terminology) they lived 'at the same level' as your regular lists. Also that they took up that horizontal space in tabs. If there were a better 'housing' system for the saved searches, I'd probably have lived with the overall unpleasing (to me) look.

But again, I don't know if exploiting the tags will work with your Blackberry system.

I just logged into RTM this morning and noticed that 82 tasks I had, were duped repeatedly into 482 tasks; while others were not duped. My BB had the right Tasks, and it was set to sync, so there was some data corruption on the RTM side.

I deleted all of the Tasks (ALL of them) in RTM, set my BB to push back to RTM, and now RTM is empty, and my BB has all of my Tasks. I can't seem to get it to reconcile (and I'm a Pro user).

Frustrasting.

But again, I don't know if exploiting the tags will work with your Blackberry system.

It's possible. The closest thing I've found so far, is called "SlickTasks", but it's still a bit lacking in the ability to sync BACK to the default Tasks app.

I'll keep testing, trying and looking.

ToDoMatrix, developed by REXwireless, is purpose designed for GTD on BlackBerrys and it syncs perfectly with the native Tasks app, and via that, to Outlook. I use this very process myself. ToDoMatrix is highly customisable and I've found it to be ideal for organising tasks into projects - whilst also having the ability to sort tasks by other dimensions (priority, date, context). Indeed, you can even create user defined fields enabling you to sort and view tasks based on your own dimensions. I'd highly recommend it. All of your tasks are also backed up wirelessly to REXwireless own secure server so you have a double-backup (if you're using Outlook as well) of all of your task data.
