Outlook Task View Help

Hi everybody,

Would you know if there's a way to view only certain Categories/Contexts in Outlook. Under Tasks, once I've had my tasks sorted by Categories/Contexts, I wouldn't like to see ALL my contexts. Suppose I would just want to see all my tasks only under, @Office-Desk, @Mac-Connected and @Calls, would there be a way to do that? One could say you could collapse all the other categories, but that's really way too troublesome and they're still a visual obstacle between the contexts that matter.

Happy GTDing everybody :-)

You can use View>>Arrange by>>Current View>>Define View>>Modify>>Filter>>More Choices>>Categories and then tick the categories you want to see.

I can't wait to try this. This has been a major reason why I haven't switched to combining my home and office "systems". I certainly didn't want to see work while at home and home stuff when I'm trying to concentrate on working.

Hi Tominperu!

Thanks so much for replying! I had subscribed to this thread and was eagerly awaiting a mail but didn't see one, happened to by chance pass by it and was so pleasantly surprised to see two replies.

Tom, I tried out your suggestion but came across a stumbling block. When I go t View>>Current View>>Deife View>>Modify that's where I get stuck, because the Filter button is dimmed and am not able to click it. Currnetly trying and experimenting different combinations to make it work, any suggestions?

Tom, one more query, if it's alright to ask...there are so MANY views (Simple List, Details List, Active Tasks etc.) none of which I use, is there a way to delete all of them and have only custom views?

Thanks Tom! Much MUCH appreciated!

Tom....Tom...I don't believe it, I got it to work. Oh, thank you so much! I created a new view and then just followed your instructions, this is just so cool, thanks so much Tom. This has been buggin me for so very long. I can just see myself checking of those Next Actions one by one already and blowing them to a gazillion pieces already.

Tom, I just need help in renaming my view, from "new view" to something more user-friendly and how to delete unwanted views.

Thanks again Tom...you're a STAR!

For Views you have made yourself you can click on View>>Arrange by>>Current View>>Define View and then click on Rename or on Delete.

I don't think you can do this for the default views though. Although someone else might know a way.
