Product and GTD On-line store update

If it has been a while since you visited- just wanted folks to know that we have rearranged our on-line store. I brought in some product last year just to test out- it did okay but this year we are sticking mainly to our own David Allen product so I am canning the travel category. (Although David, Kelly and Carl (all at DAC) love their Patagonia backpacks, so we may hang on to a few items).

There are some good deals now in our "sale" category, mainly those travel items. Connect members get an additional 10% off of non-sale (non-bundled)items. Do folks know that you can get a free two week trial membership to Connect and take advantage of the product discount? It helps pay for shipping if nothing else! I so appreciate Connect this year, there is so much information there so if you have not checked it out (even if you are black belt!) please do.

AND I do appreciate hearing from you GTDers. Let me know what works and doesn't work for you this year in our store and with our products. We have some exciting new launches coming up so watch for new items as well! Several of our CDs will be available as MP3 downloads, we have a new Audio CD product arriving TODAY! (I'll spill the beans- it is David Allen, a 7 CD set, not new information but a great review, a great recording and at a great price!) We will have a link up soon for Eric Mack's e-productivity tool for Lotus Notes as well. I am installing e-productivity today on my computer-I'll be happy to let folks know about it but suffice it to say David uses it and recommends it as a "must have" if you are a Notes user.

International customers will be happy to know that my A4 file folders will arrive soon! Only the GTD System Folders for now, they are on a boat so hoping to have them available mid-Feb, email me directly is you need a firm date. We will be a little smarter/leaner/cleaner in our choices this year but just making sure that there is great product to support GTDers at all levels. All good news! See you at the Summit!
 
Audio CD set

Hi Jason,

The CD set will be in the store tomorrow, it came in today-look for it in the audio category- it is not the MIAW series, something else entirely. David recorded it and it is produced by another company. If you have GTDlive this won't be new information at all- but a great format and easy to listen to and more casual format for David then previous audio. I think folks will like it!

Great! I see it in the store. Is this by chance the same program as Nightingale's "Getting Things Done... Fast?" I have an old copy of that and listen to it at LEAST once every three months or so. It is fabulous.

I ordered this from Nightingale Conant last week. It's not GTD Fast--the basic material that was GTD Fast is now available on the GTD Live CD set available from davidco.com.

This is an interesting set of material, and I think highly useful even to those that have one or both of GTD Fast or GTD Live. Those are recordings of a two-day seminar with David. This new recording is, for lack of a better term, a David Allen/GTD gumbo of sorts: at times it sounds like a condensation of some material from Getting Things Done, some of it is reflections on productivity principles a la Ready for Anything (several of them are indeed from that book), some of it covers the same ground as GTD Fast/GTD Live and all of it is seen through the prism of reflection afforded by several more years of David's perspective with the material since the publication of those books (or indeed, of the recording of GTD Fast or GTD Live). As such, it offers an updated interpretation of the GTD material through the prism of a Making It All Work control and perspective standpoint.

So have you heard David say some of this stuff before if you have audio copies of any of the three books, or have GTD Fast and/or GTD Live? Yes, without a doubt. Is there still enough new material and difference in perspective to make this worth it? Again, yes without a doubt, at least from my viewpoint. Good stuff, highly recommended.

Getting Things Done with Work-Lfe Balance

I've just received this set ordered from the David Co store and haven't listened to it yet but I've noticed that the Workbook mentions "GTD System Guides".

They aren't included in the package and they're not on the disks (as PDFs as I would have expected).

Is this an oversight or are you expected to purchase them separately?

I've checked the Nightingale Conant site and it shows the package as containing a complete set of GTD templates.

Please send me an email privately (to liz.harward@davidco.com) with your address or your order number and I will send those right out to you. They should have been in with the CDs, likely just an oversight.

Update

Just a quick note, I have been on eProductivity (for Lotus Notes) now for three weeks and I LOVE IT. I would take it off if it was well, not productive for me. It is helping me with a work load I could not have imagined a year ago, thank you Eric! And is that a plug? Yes it is, I recommend this to everyone in our office but do your own research as GTD is not tool specific- what works for me may not be the best tool for you. (But most folks get that when they read GTD.)

A4 GTD System folders are now available as well as a new desk tray *(comes with paper pads and pen)- more to come in late spring!

My first exposure to GTD was through Nightingale Conant's "Getting Things Done . . . FAST!" CD's.

My second exposure to GTD was also through Nightingale Conant's "Getting Things Done . . . FAST!" CD's. Let me explain.

When I first saw the GTD CD's, I was attracted to the word FAST! I've many times prided myself on my speed. However, I was master of getting stuck quickly. So I took the CD's under NC's 30-day trial period offer. I finished listening to them FAST, in at most 2 days I bought them. Something was really spectacular about the program, it defied explanation though I could relate to everything.

Then months later as a frequent NC customer I got an invite to be part of an experiment. They'd send you a program for you to evaluate and mail back written comments. The first one supplied was none other than GTD...FAST! I thought to myself, I really better pay attention now. (I think I had nothing negative to say, other than one part where either the tempo was slow in an accompanying tune, or it was in a minor key when I felt the music really needed to be energetic.)

It wouldn't be until some time later that I actually found the GTD book. I was so surprised when I read in the book that to really get GTD, read the book again. In my case, I had heard the CD's 2 times, almost involuntarily. I too listen to GTD...FAST repeatedly and can't believe how each time I get something more, especially after reading the book (paperback and hard cover.)

Since my primary sense is auditory, I know that in my case I was so much more able to internalize GTD by hearing it.

I'm starting to read _Making It All Work_, and saw the part about the camps of GTD'ers, those who really get GTD and two others who are almost there. I'd seriously consider promoting the GTD audio products more heavily, so it connects to people like me who are more driven by our funny ears. I wonder if some who didn't quite connect with seeing GTD the book need to hear it first.

While I read and write for a living (I'm a scientist), I've come to the realization over the last few months that I *really* get stuff by listening.

I guess I first realized this years ago when listening (and re-listening) to Steven Covey 7 Habits tapes.

I read MIAW, and then bought the audio book. I've listened to it 3 times. I'm now re-re-listening to GTD. Great stuff. About to take the dogs for a walk and listen more. Yay.
