project support for an S/M project?

If you keep on getting next action ideas for a certain someday/maybe project, do you create project support for that S/M project? I’m asking because I find that a lot of my S/M’s have a common project theme, and it’s rather difficult to do the weekly review if I’m reviewing a list of related action items instead of projects.

It sounds like a good idea. it will get the items off your mind. Then when you're ready to work of the someday/maybe project, you've got a head start.

As I use Outlook for my GTD system, what I tend to do with both Projects and S/M's is when I write the item down is first I (try!) to write the successful outcome and reason for the project, then I brainstorm Next Actions that I might do in the Project item or the S/M item. I put this text in the text field of the

If I was doing a paper-based method, I would either create a list of possible NA's on the sheet associated with the S/M or create a project folder and put the possible NA list for the project.

For common tasks, such as planning a business trip, I take the checklist and put it in the Project item, eg:

Business travel checklist
book flights
book hotel
book airport limo
book rental car
get visa

2nd laptop battery
chargers
plug adapters
noise-canceling headset
identification (passport)
travel itinerary

I have a file-box that contains a color-coded folder for each of seven or eight someday-maybe categories (broad enough that it would be hard to come up with something that didn't fit into any of them) and toss ideas into the respective folder.

If one particular idea/plan starts getting a fair amount of stuff, I create a file folder specially for it, in the same color as it's parent category (and immediately behind that category folder, with the hanging folder-tab in the same position).

I try to review this entire box at least once a month-- it's too much to review weekly (so I have a special "pending" list for projects/tasks that I want to do within the next month or two, so that they don't get lost in the shuffle.)

Could you name those categories?
 
I don't have the list with me, I'll need to get back to you on that.
