Putting in all day or next action

I'm just getting used to GTD and am liking things so far. I didn't know about all day apppointments before and I'm finding them very effective.

The only trouble is I put things in 'all day' that need to get done very soon (ie next few days), rather than absolutely must happen on that day. And I'm only just getting through the calendar and 'all day' list, and so not reviewing my next actions regularly.

Should I do it differently? I'm doing this because I'm concerned that if I don't put things on an 'all day' they'll get lost in the ever growing list of next actions. For example 'email x client re visiting' - which doesn't have a specific day it 'must' happen. But it does have a day I's 'like' it to happen.

thanks

I try to keep all the actions that could be done on asap basis to Next Actions lists. So 'email x client' for me would go into @Computer category unless I promised to email him on some specific day or even time. All deadlines or action that must happen on a certain day go to all-day event category. The essence of GTD is only time specific and real-deadlines should go on the calendar. Try not to schedule too much only real promises and deadlines. BTW routines are time-specific as well because if you don't make you workout on a certain day you can spoil the whole workout programm you did. Then on a daily basis I start the day with checking the calendar. If there's nothing scheduled I can do Next Action lists or do the 'ad-hoc' work. For example, if I wake up in the morning and understand that there's nothing scheduled I can go and do my sales theory stydy even it's not on my NA lists but I love that to do. I know that all the rest could wait as it asap.

Regards,

Eugene.
