Road Map Seminars

I would appreciate hearing about the experiences of people who have gone to Road Map after implementing GTD on their own. What was helpful? How did it impact your practice? Beyond the motivating and energizing feelings that people usually experience in personal growth and development seminars, did you find yourself being able to do anything differently?

Opens your eyes (well, widens them anyway)

I went to the London Seminar about 18 months ago or so. Before this I'd tinkered with GTD for about a year. The main thing I learnt from the seminar, apart from the popularity of the seminar, was the whole area around next actions. I used the next actions as 'actions' - i.e. everything I could think of - under a given project. Listen to DA explaining it put things into context and clarified my thinking.

I won't claim to be completely cured of this use of next actions, but the seminar certainly brought the ideas in the book together for me.

Enjoy the Seminar !

Worth it

If GTD interests you, The RoadMap really shows you the whole game in a day. I was very surprised to recall that David never once showed his WorkFlow Diagram. Instead he gave a more elevated view of the process and where everything goes via MindMaps he had on the screen. He also showed himself going through the trenches with his Lotus Notes. So in a way it gave me a more well rounded view and showed the different layers of GTD. He also explained the vertical connection between tasks, projects, areas of focus, goals, vision, and purpose very well... it really cemented the idea of Vertical control for projects and for life. I left that day feeling that I had really gotten my moneys worth.
