Tab dividers/guide

Hi!

I'm looking for A-Z dividers for my new vanilla file folder archive. I have seen some links to online shops for this, but can't find it. Any recomendations?

Do you need dividers?

I'm not using any dividers -- I just keep my folders alphabetized. Are you sure you really need the dividers?

Feel free to get them, if you want them for organizational help, though.

Have you been to your local office supply stores looking for them? Office Depot shows them on their web site as item #211458 (Globe-Weis® Manila A To Z File Guides, Letter Size, Set Of 25) -- if you have one nearby, you can call and ask if they have them in stock. Which stores are convenient to you?

I'm in norway, and it's all hangning folder in the stores around here. I was looking for a online store to find them. I can probably order som from Office Depot in the US, but I'm not sure if I need them anymore. I'll try without dividers, I never asked myself if I really needed them. Thanks, the easy solution is often the best!

Manila folders vs. hanging folders

There's nothing magic about manila folders, by the way -- they're common here in the U.S. and they're very simple, which is presumably why David Allen recommends them.

If everything where you are is hanging folders, feel free to use them. Just make sure the folder-creation process is quick and simple enough that you will be willing to create a new folder for anything that deserves it -- even a single piece of paper.

dividers-depends on size of system

I use A to Z dividers in my " big system "in my home office because I want to know where to start looking before I get distracted. In my regular office, I have 3 drawers and each is half full and each drawer has a different type of thing (forms for use with customers, customers, "information"), each of these is filed A to Z but no dividers are needed. Everyone will have a slightly different implementation just choose one and stick with it and make sure that it meets your needs. I would sayt that if your system has more than 26 file heads you might benefit from dividers.
