Tickler file: where do you put the items you pull up?

A bit of an "let's overcomplicate this" kind of question :)

I pull out tomorrow's file this morning. Some stuff I simply toss in my inbox while other items just "hang around" on my desk or so ... waiting for tomorrow.

I could pull tomorrow's file on that day. I don't: I don't have enough heads-up time that way. Seeing a theater ticket today for tomorrow I can say "oh yeah, darling, we we planned to XYZ"

I could pull tomorrow's file at the end of today. I don't: it only shortens the lead-time but I'm still "stuck" with where to put the items.

So, for now I just have the stuff "around".

You?

You should pull tomorrow's folder from the tickler at the end of today, dump the contents of that folder into your inbox, re-file the folder in the tickler file, and walk away. Tomorrow you process those items in your inbox as though they just arrived in the mail.

Tip: Always file tickets on the day before they are needed. When they show up I put them in your wallet and next day you have them on hand when you arrive at the event.

Some choices for items in your tickler: 1. your inbox, 2. forward in your tickler for another day, 3. do it right then and there, 4. open a single action or project, 5. trash it. I really wouldn't it let it lay on your desk for the day. I am so unaccustomed to that now, that I would worry I will lose it.

I like that idea. It happens that I do a 48 hour clean up though. Can't always be sure I will see that item in time.

I have a small hanging folders stand that I use for some current items. Maybe keeping those tickler items in a "current" folder...

I put any tickets or meeting notices in my purse and the other stuff sits out on my desk until I take care of it. I don't have much that comes up in my tickler file so that works for me.
