Tickler storage

I'm having a hard time figuring out where to put my tickler folders. I first tried putting them in hanging folders in my file cabinet. This didn't work very well for two reasons 1) all 43 folders didn't fit in one hanging folder so I had to put them in multiple hanging folders 2) the drawer was close to the floor and wasn't so easy to get to.

I then decided to buy a file folder storage box and put it on my desk. Now it is very handy, but the box is way larger than it needs to be and takes up more desk space than I would like. The 43 folders take up less than 10% of the box.

How have other people solved this problem?

I have my tickler file of 43 manila folders in a "box bottom" hanging folder. They are much larger than a standard size hanging folder and so far comfortably hold my tickler file. They should be readily available at such stores as Office Depot, Office Max, Staples, etc.
If not, I am sure you can order them on line or order them through the mentioned office supply stores.

Good luck!

Not sure...but, would a step file work?

Ok, so personally, I have one of my drawers (the fourth one, the top one) as my tickler file in the front, and all my office supplies (file folders, label tape, pens, post its, printer paper, ink cartridges, etc) next to my desk. I clear out my tickler daily (or, whenever I leave for a trip I clean out until I'm going to be back).

But, if you don't want to do that, what about one of those "metal step file" tools? Of course, you'd have your tickler file "out" all the time, but it would take up less space.

Mine are in two file drawers in my desk. I use hanging files folders. I will often put manilla folders inside the hanging file folders. For example, if I have a number of papers all related to a project I will be working on August 10th, the papers go in a manilla folder labled with the subject and the whole folder then goes in the hanging file for the 10th.

I just use one hanging file that's large enough to accomodate all 43 folders. It's a bit of a squeeze, but they fit.

I have mine in a "redweld" file - it's a file folder with open top, square bottom 3.5" wide, and accordian pleated sides. They're in ready supply at law firms, but I don't know if they sell them at regular office supply stores.
