It occurred to me last weekend that my head used to be connected to greater things – is there a spirituality in nature? Why is there a universe? Isn’t it wonderful the way Karl Jung saw and wrote about the parallels between Alchemy and Psychology? Don’t get me wrong, I was working away as a busy professional at the same time, but always with this stream of greater awareness going on.
And now … all I do is wonder what will be the next mundane email that will appear in that small little screen on my desk. All radiating lines of thought and anticipation have been dragged down from the skies to that few square inches.
David made a passing reference to this when he was talking about Linda Stone's work: how professional couples are wondering where their lives have gone, while all the time they are just glued to their little screens 24/7. I hope it's just the start of a cure for this life wrecking obsession.
