Email etiquette

With the number of items delivered by mail service here in the UK dropping by two-thirds, the volume of email grows daily with the ease of emailing causing many more emails than are necessary.

The Efficient Librarian is always a good read and his latest on Email Etiquette covers the topic at https://efficientlibrarian.com/effective-email-etiquette-how-to-ensure-your-messages-are-understood/

"To CC or BCC, that is the question" is a clever Shakespearian twist on one of the problems.

His section on "The Perils of the Public Record" is one concern that I'd not seen expressed before. It's particularly pertinent here in the UK where staff are embarrassed to see what they wrote many years ago about others in a Public Enquiry into a major miscarriage of justice.

Emailers beware!

David Parker,

Agree, first and foremost, on this end emails are deemed as digital/electronic postcards and therefore deem emails as inappropriate for Confidential communications?

In general, emails can be super for "FYI's", logistical coordination, and the like unless your Jason Bourne

Find using no where to hide "CC" as much as possible removes the riff-raff up-front and eliminates the need for 'tippy-toeing'/eggshell walking, especially when it comes to professional and family communications . . . works wonders in keeping nonsense/blah, blah, blah. . . ., He said/She said at bay by encouraging/facilitating appropriately mature no where to hide engagements

Thank you very much for your post

As you see GTD fit
