Leveraging Focus and Vision

Hi

I've been trying to work out what this seminar is all about! I've read the brochure, searched and read all the references on the board and I'm still baffled.

Can anybody shed light on what I'd get by attending the event?

I'm not looking for content - just the deliverables!

The impression I get from postings on the board is a 'feel good' factor type response. Sorry to compare but it reads like people have been to see one of those 'perspirational' speakers, but don't quite know what they got! I'm sure it's not like that at all because the GTD events with David are inspirational and grounded too.

I'm very impressed by what GTD has done for my productivity. But I went into that arena knowing what problems I had and with a very clear idea of the deliverables.

If LF&V could give me 50% of the roi I've had on GTD I'd be a happy bunny.

Is anyone willing to share some first hand wisdom on this?

Please don't advise me to take a leap of faith - I'm not into firewalking!

:D

Good question

This is a good question. I would like to know the answer too.

I suspect that since it's a 'graduate level' seminar it goes deeper into some of the GTD philosopy at a higher level.

On one of the GTD fast CDs there is an interesting peice on alignments between next actions and vision.

Someone also mentioned Psyco-Cybernetics as an influence and certainly that fits with the outline - RAS and image-building, techniques for managing focus etc.

Good luck!

I believe you are referring to the segment which David precedes with a statement about the "Challenge & Art of Business", where he talks about the levels of focus. If Clarity is lacking, it's time to move up the scale toward "purpose"; but if Purpose & Vision are clear but Implementation is lacking, it's time to move down the scale toward Definable Projects, Sub-Projects, and N/A's. I've probably replayed that segment 100 times over the past months.

I wish I had heard that segment 10-15 years ago - it would have saved me a lot of wasted hours in meetings that wandered through the wilderness. Now, whenever I'm in a meeting that goes off track, I draw a sketch of that lecture on the side of my note pad and begin trying to decide how to steer the discussion in the right direction. (if I can).

Cd

Yes its precisely that bit of the program.

I have found it useful in the same way. Particularly when meetings go off agenda and I want to get them back on focus.

Just checking back on this and I see that nobody has posted any specific details of what I'd get from the workshop - doesn't anyone have ANY insights at all?
