I went and started using the Later option in Nirvana HQ.

I find it very useful for next actions that need to be parked because they can’t be acted on immediately. They’re not suitable right now but should definitely stay in view. They’re also not a fit for Someday. So, Later is for active next actions that are parked, and Someday is for passive actions. During the weekly review, they’ll get attention when needed.

Later becomes valuable when you hit one of these situations:
  1. Seasonal or weather‑dependent ideas
  2. Market‑dependent ideas
  3. After "X project or action is done” ideas
  4. Energy‑based ideas
This way, I only have genuine next actions, and the number of them is manageable.

Let me know what you think and how you manage these type of actions.

I tried a similar approach, but eventually gave up on it. Over time, task statuses kept changing, and the list just turned into another “everything bucket” — but, hey ho. Likely user-related.

These days, I prefer to keep this sort of thing in the project’s support materials.
