Outlook Tip: Shortcut to open Calendar, Tasks, or any Folder

I noticed in a previous post that several posters wanted to know how to open up Outlook's Tasks in a new window, and the solution offered was to right click the Tasks folder and click "open in new window." Yes, that works, but you do have several other options.

The easiest method is to right-click the Tasks folder and to drag and drop it to your desktop, then click "Copy Here." You can do this with any folder in Outlook, including the Calendar.

Another method is to create a shortcut to an Outlook folder. Here's an example of the shortcuts to use to open up the calendar and/or tasks folder (Using Office 2003, change to Office10 for Office XP):

"C:program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOFFICE11OUTLOOK.EXE" /select outlook:calendar

"C:program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOFFICE11OUTLOOK.EXE" /select outlook:tasks

By using this option, it will allow you to setup a shortcut key to open up Outlooks tasks. I have my set to CTRL-ALT-T.
