problem of "Not able to remember if I have written or captured else where this idea which I am thinking off with my mind or short term memory"

Or post e.g. problem of "Not able remember written else where"

This is something which I have thought about multiple times - Where according to X persons system erm - its said for 'capturing' you write, create new things which haven't been "documented or captured" out of your mind (which is what causes people to get stressed - having to keep on thinking about ideas in short term memory which they feel could help them)

But the specific issue which - I deal with due to impaired short term memory - is actually being aware which things I have captured or not (believe it or not)

and a voice in my head - says I should try to focus entirely - on using implementing a whole set single system ( despite what I have done in the past)

Actually, this isn't a problem, and I think that it might be something that can help you.

It is OK to capture the same thing multiple times. I do it all the time.

Often when people capture the same thing again and again, a possible explanation might be that there is something unclarified about it, but equally it might be that something made you think of it and you just forgot that it was already in your system. From what you are saying, the latter case may happen more frequently for you, and that is totally OK.

What might happen is when you Clarify and Organise, you notice that the project is already in your projects list. If that is the case, then you don't need to make another project, and you can simply discard the duplicated item instead.

yes that its more important

OK?
but makes me think in heighn (typo) sight - wasn't I just wasting time by making this mistake for example ? "

Maybe, but what is the realistic alternative? Capturing the same thing multiple times is an impossible problem to solve. It is going to happen to everyone to a greater or lesser extent.

The benefit of GTD is being able to focus our attention on what we choose. The cost is a small amount of time capturing, clarifying, organising and reviewing. It is not about writing the correct thing down the first time, it is about understanding what is important to us. The writing and the thinking is not the inefficiency, it is the process that enables us to focus.

@cfoley

In regards to seemingly 'redundant' captures . . . as Heraclitus expressed, one never steps in the same river twice ?

Thank you very much sir . . . you give heart in helping to remove unnecessary concern(s) !

FWIW, I capture multiple times without remorse and straighten it out during weekly review.

Right is that true
Or could one solve it by being more organized
for example makes me think

Yeah
I never successfully perfectly implemented the certain steps of GTD up to this point in time says voice

I can't think of any way to solve this. Everyone will sometimes capture something they captured before.

Here is a thread I started on the same topic a couple of years ago, with good thoughts from other members. Nobody suggested that it was possible to solve and many expressed that the same thing happens to them.

OK
unless proper organized

OK
right I scanned over that

your saying you will still do it till this day tho?

i've never herd of that person
'one never steps in the same river twice ?' what does that mean?
@TimBourne

Heraclitus 'was' an ancient Greek philosopher prior to Socrates

'Everything' is changing . . . 'everything' is in flux

Why GTD ?

'Everything' is changing . . . 'everything' is in flux

We need a system to 'manage' everchanging realities . . . GTD is the best methodology/system thus far for such realities ?

OH RIGHT - i understand now? the quote was actually about nature or terrain (the river changing)

and wasn't actually some comment anlyzation of the human behaviour ? (i.e. person stepping in a river?)

"ncient Greek philosopher prior to Socrates" Thats what I changed my FB profile image to [from ghandi
cos I feel angry and Socrates promoted physical training and masculinity says voice
