Recommendations for Efficient Asset Inventory Systems?

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for advice on asset tracking tools for a mid-sized business. We're currently using a manual process with spreadsheets, which is becoming time-consuming and error-prone. I’d like to upgrade to something more reliable.

Ideally, the solution should support barcode or RFID scanning, integrate with existing software (like QuickBooks or SAP), and offer real-time tracking across multiple locations. I’m particularly interested in systems known for efficient asset inventory systems to help streamline operations.

Cloud-based options would be a big plus.

What do you use, and what should I look out for during implementation?

Hi, there @samuelethan!

I'm glad you dropped by with your concerns for our intrepid GTDers. I'm a relative beginner, but we have a lot of highly experienced GTD people here who will probably drop by to comment on your post sometime soon. Hang in there and keep checking back. Meanwhile, I was able to find a few articles that perhaps might have relevance, if you have not already seen them.

Best wishes to you!!

Emily

Not that I wish to contradict @Mrs-Polifax, but I know just enough about asset management to know that I should not have any public opinion.
Oh, dear, @mcogilvie! Asset management is controversial? I'm so sorry if I misspoke!! I thought it was about how to track the extent of whatever tools, equipment, supplies. and inventory a company owns, keep it insured, protected, and in good condition, and depreciate it as needed in the most efficient and cost effective ways. I am certainly curious about your comment. Thanks so much for showing up here to help out a GTDer with this interest and explaining that it would not be appropriate to respond.

Oh dear, I’m sorry. There was nothing wrong with your response; I just meant that I wasn’t competent to respond. There’s a lot of information missing from the original post: What issues are driving the project? What sort of assets? What’s the size of the company? What’s the budget? How will the system be used? However, even if I knew the answers to those questions, I still have no real expertise, so I didn’t ask them.

@mcogilvie

Whew! I was really concerned about this. I'm sorry I misunderstood. Thanks for responding! You ask some interesting questions that might help the OP make a clearer inquiry. Even though I know nothing about this field, except what I read by looking for links, I like to respond to let people know we care about their GTD-related concerns. I'm glad to know that is not a problem.

Happy Easter!

Should you deem the following as GTD worthy

Two forms of
Obligations and why GTD is so good:

Internal (Assets)

External (Liabilities)

Happy Easter . . . gates opened for Eternal Life without further need for GTD in this Vale of Tears

As you see GTD fit. . . .
