Researching new GTD platforms mobile options

Hi everyone. I am wondering if I can get some advice on how to transition my GTD system. My current setup is using Microsoft Outlook 2010 & syncing to my Blackberry.

I am really wanting to completely revamp this and choose some new tools but need some advice. First, I am not satisfied with neither my blackberry and outlook. I really want to do away with both.

I just purchased a Macbook Pro and i'm looking into some new options. I will be getting an Android phone shortly as well (no iphone, I have Sprint) so the mobile options with the Android are also important.

Here are some possible options I see, please advise and provide and suggestions

Buying Lotus Notes w/ eproductivity ( Can individuals purchase Lotus Notes, and if so, what is the consensus on using it w/eproductivity?) I saw that David Allen uses it as well as some of his key staff members, however It seems to not be discussed on here as often as the internet based GTD platforms and Omnifocus and Outlook.

-Also, would I have problems syncing Lotus Notes & Eproductivity to an Android phone?

Next option:

Omnifocus : Again, ive seen great reviews on here however I am concerned about it syncing with my Android phone

Thoughts?

And the final options:

A internet based GTD application like Nirvana or Toodledo (do they both offer good compatibility w/ the Android?)

*I've watched some of the tutorials for Eproductivity on Lotus Notes and it looks great as well as being a good GTD staff pick. However, the mobile side of this may dictate a better platform. Thanks for the help!

I would typically suggest OmniFocus for your Mac, although it does not sync to Android devices from what I know.

Yes, although it's not a simple thing to do. If you contact ICA, the developers of eProductivity, they should be able to provide you with the information on how to get Lotus Notes as an individual. It's not a simple thing, like installing a stand-alone application though, so be prepared.

We don't have a recommendation for a web-based app at this time, but your felllow GTDers may have something to suggest here on the Forums.

Don't do it if you don't have to :!:

If you are Outlook user switching to Lotus Notes will be an unpleasant act of heroism. You will sacrifice ease of use, many user interface goodies and speed for ability to share the pain with other Lotus Notes users. The spell checker (Polish) is strange, the "find" function is horrible and you cannot move mail sent by you from the "sent" folder to another folder. These are my personal experiences - YMMV.

My pick would be Omnifocus on your mac, an iPod Touch for the mobile portion of your Omnifocus lists and the Android phone if you need a data phone or want to use the iPod wifi everywhere by tethering it to the Android. I wouldn't even worry about trying to synch or run GTD stuff on the Android, Omnifocus is so great it's worth the extra device IMO.
 
I would agree with Oogie, but would strongly suggest adding an iPad, with Omnifocus for iPad as well.

Be sure and get Mobilme, to enable backup in the clouds and synching Omnifocus across multiple devices.

Can your Droid on Sprint be used as a WiFi hotspot?

The android phone we've been doing development for can be used as a wifi hotspot. That's what I mean by tethering.

I'd say skip the MobileMe stuff. CLoud apps being my personal bugaboo :-) OF syncs just fine using Bonjour on wifi.

Also for really mobile not sure why you need an iPad. If you already use a laptop then iPad can perhaps replace it but desktop plus carry along is a lot cleaner IMO.
 
Ooige works outside a lot. I have Omnifocus on both an iTouch and an iPad and I don't believe she does. if you work mostly indoors, and particularly if you company is on Windows, I STRONGLY suggest you consider both, or just the iPad if you only want one device.

If you want a full library of work-related PDF's and documents at your fingertips, there is no comparison.

Everyone's mileage may vary.....

Correct. I have OF on my Mac and on my iPod Touch but don't even at this time own an iPad although I just bought a new iPod.

Mobile to me means able to be carried on my person easily and accessed anywhere. I also can't carry a purse or backpack easily when I am working and I invariably need my OF lists and data then.
 
The combination of screen size, portability (in the business world sense, not the outdoor sense) and immediate boot make the iPad useful for all sorts of business applications. There is an article in today's Financial Times where Lloyds of London will be testing iPads for managing their bespoke insurance policies. There was an article in a recent Wall Street Journal about the rapid inroads that iPads are achieving in various corporations. The article points out that IT departments have been far more open to iPads than they were to iPhones when they first came out.

Regarding Omnifocus, many reviewers at the iPad app store state that they like the iPad version even better than the Mac version. I am starting to see their point.

The system I implemented use Outlook that sync with Toodledo that sync with Got To Do on my android phone ( even if I don't use it as a phone) .

When you start to use Toodledo, at the end, you should never use Outlook because Toodledo is more immediate then Outlook and you can re-sort the task in so many ways and so quickly that Outlook will be useful only few times.

Recently I met also Due Today for Android but it's not so ready as Got To Do. At least to get what I need
