For years I've used a Dymo label maker to label manilla folders for my general reference filing system. I've used different kinds of tape over the years from paper to plastic and OEM brand to generic. I've found that the generic labels don't stick well to manilla folders, and even then the OEM variety sometimes lose their grip at the edges and start to curl. When I remove a label, a bit of the surface peels away and the next label doesn't stick very well.
I found that if I apply a piece of Scotch tape to the folder tab and then stick the label on top of that, not only does the label stick better, but it's easy to remove the label from the tape and apply a new one. I've also found that I could apply tape to a tab from which I tore off a label and took a bit of the surface with it. The tape makes it functional again. T
Thanks to Scotch tape, I may never have to buy manilla folders again; I can reuse them when I purge my reference system each year.
