Syncing Categories to Palm Vx

I am setting up my Outlook Tasks with Categories as described in the GTD Outlook Workflow Processing document. After adding some tasks to the new categories, I synced to the Palm. The tasks and due dates came through fine, but the categories did not. Is there additional set up I need to do to get the categories to come through?

You don't say what sync software you are using, which can make a difference. Also, are you aware that the Palm is limited to 15 categories, and one category per item, while Outlook does not have these limitations?

The software is Hot Sync Manager 4.0.1, Outlook is 2002. In the Palm, there were only 2 categories, Business and Personal, I manually added two more categories. When the tasks from Outlook sync to the Palm, the category appears as "Unfiled" even though the task appears just fine.
 
ARe you using PocketMirror, or Palm conduits?

I'm not 100% sure, but don't you need PocketMirror to sync with Palm , with Desktop 4.0.1? PocketMirror has a special setup for how you want your categories to sync with your Palm.

Apparently you are using the newer Palm- brand Outlook sync (right?) rather than a 3rd-party solution. I used it very little, but here is some generic advice. If the tasks are syncing bidirectionally, but not the categories:

1) Look at the detailed settings on the conduit. I don't remember, but they may allow fine grained category mapping.

2) Try seeing if categories can propagate either way. Try deleting the categories on the palm, and see if the sync will create them.

3) When all else, RTFWS (Read the Fine Web Site :) ), since we can't RTFM too much today.

Thanks for all the tips. I found the answer, with your help, deep within PocketMirror as I drilled down into the settings. Thanks to all who responded.
